In 1622, in a small town nestled deep within the heart of France, there was a rare spark that the locals often talked about. Not a literal spark, but a girl - a girl with an unusual spirit, a girl who saw the world slightly differently, a girl named Annalise.
Radical ideas and a mind filled with notions of adventure usually distinguished Annalise from the people in her town.
