The Guardian of the Mountain
Once upon a time, in a universe far beyond our sight, lay a beautiful planet named Zahra. This planet was unique because it was home to civilizations that lived both above and below the surface. They shared the planet harmoniously. Above the surface lived humans and below lived a race of extraordinary beings, the Monolits - luminous entities, spiritual in form and capable of harnessing the mystical energies of the universe. The leaders of both races, King Paelen of the humans, and Elder Zir of the Monolits were wise, fair and respected by all.
The peak of Mount Zephyr, the highest mountain on Zahra, was known as the meeting point for the leaders. The summit was mystical, emanating an unfamiliar energy that seemed to have the power of binding these two distinct races. It was where peace treaties were inked, celebrations held, and mediations done. It was believed that the first leader of the Monolits, Zephyrus, had embedded a piece of their powerful 'Elemental Orb' at the peak which gave it the energies. Many tried to reach the peak, but the mountain was merciless to the unworthy.
King Paelen had a son, Prince Argon, who was intrigued by this mysterious peak and the story of the Elemental Orb. He was fascinated by the Monolits and their unique culture and powers. On his 18th birthday, he requested his father to allow him to climb Mount Zephyr, a plea which was first met with resistance from the king but eventually granted. Prince Argon was excited and began his rigorous training for the climb.
When Elder Zir heard about this, he decided to reveal a secret to Prince Argon. He told him about the Guardian of the Mountain - a spirit created by Zephyrus to protect the Elemental Orb. The Guardian was tasked to test the integrity of the person who wished to reach the summit. It was invisible, invincible, and could take any form.
Despite learning about the guardian, Prince Argon's determination hadn't wavered. He thanked Elder Zir for his candor and requested his blessings for the journey. After months of preparation, Prince Argon began his ascend. As expected, harsh winds, barely passable terrains, and treacherous turns became part of his journey. But the prince had prepared well and faced all obstacles courageously.
On his third day of the climb, Prince Argon encountered the Guardian. True to Elder Zir's words, it took the shape of a massive ice dragon. 'Why do you wish to reach the peak of Mount Zephyr?' it asked, its voice echoing through the mountains. Prince Argon, visibly frightened, mustered up his courage and replied, 'I seek to understand and appreciate the bond between the Monolits and Humans better.'
Skeptical, the Guardian commanded, 'Prove your pure intentions, and only then shall you pass'. Suddenly, the ice dragon transformed into a small, injured bird. Guided by his instincts, Argon carefully picked up the bird and used his cloak to bandage its wound.
Seeing this act of kindness, the guardian transformed back into its original, shapeless form and spoke, 'Your compassion has proven your integrity. I grant you passage to the peak of Mount Zephyr.' Elated, Prince Argon thanked the guardian and proceeded. When he reached the peak, he felt a surge of energy filling his spirit.
Prince Argon descended the mountain enlightened and filled with a sensation he had never felt before. He used this experience to foster a stronger bond between humans and Monolits. His story went down in the history of Zahra and acted as a beacon of friendship and unity.
His journey wasn't just about scaling the highest peak or quenching his curiosity. It became a symbol of peace, unity, and humility, reflective of Zahra's spirit. And so the Guardian of the Mountain served its purpose again, ensuring the legacy of understanding and respect remained intact, safeguarding the mystical Elemental Orb and screening the intentions of those who dared to scale the Mountain
