The Glimmering Lighthouse

In a small coastal town named Dewport, known for its tumultuous weather and anxiously beautiful waves, there stood an old and towering structure, so captivating, that it tantalized everyone's glance. This was the Dewport's Lighthouse, working as a vigilant night-glow guardian to the sailors for many generations.
Ensconced atop the rocky cliff, the lighthouse, with its cold, gray stone walls and a sharply pitched roof, overlooked the expansive azure of the ocean with a reverent authority. Seabirds hovered high above it, drawing circles in the sky, their gentle squabbles knitting an auditory tapestry that mingled perfectly with the sea's jovial symphony.
The keepers of the Lighthouse were the Robinsons, a lineage proud of their seafaring roots and the task they had shouldered of guiding the mislaid in the ocean's unfathomable darkness. The current guardian was young Sam Robinson, a brave man of 25, who took over the responsibilities after his father's untimely death.
Sam was a stalwart figure, his eyes reflecting the ocean's assertive blue, and he was as hardworking as his ancestors. Every morning, he climbed countless wooden steps to reach the top of the Lighthouse, ensuring the central beacon light was well-oiled, gleaming brightly, ready to cut through the night’s profound depth.
Even far from the chaotic city's holler, Sam's life was not a lullaby; it was an arduous fight against unprecedented solitude, severe weather conditions, and most importantly, the lighthouse's haunting myth.
It was said that the lighthouse was a dwelling place of 'Selena,' a mysterious sea maiden turned into a ghost by a curse. Residents whispered stories of Selena’s sightings. A young, beautiful woman with sapphire eyes and flowing untamed curls, whirling and singing to the rhythm of the fierce waves; her ethereal glow was the lighthouse's secret legend.
Sam, like his father, dismissed such legends, mustering the potential to stay isolated. Yet one night, amidst a storm, he heard an enchanting melody. Tempted to find its source, he followed the voice and saw her. Under the luminescent moonbeam, she was singing, her silhouette gleaming, seen from the lighthouse's lofty tower.
He saw Selena every night, singing her soulful melody, which ignited an uncanny friendship that turned into affection. Sam was no longer alone; he had found an ethereal companion. As he grew closer to Selena, he discovered she was cursed by a sea witch, forever doomed to roam the earth unless her song was heard by every wandering sailor.
So, Sam decided to free Selena of her everlasting torment. He arranged a grand feast inviting every sailor, captain, and fishermen of Dewport and neighboring towns. The feast was filled with delightful gourmet dishes, warm laughter, heartfelt stories, and then, the star of the night, Selena's song. Her voice was akin to a mermaid's, deftly enjoining every heart that was listening. The crowd was awestruck, and they all felt an ineffable peace after her powerful rendition.
The next night, as moonlight bathed Dewport, Sam waited for Selena. This time, she did not appear. He felt an eerie emptiness, but then, light, pure and radiant, filled the Lighthouse. Selena was freed and in her departure, she turned the Lighthouse beacon more brilliant than ever before.
From that day onwards, sailors noticed an unusual glimmer from the Dewport Lighthouse. It became a beacon brighter and tinted with an ethereal glow, guiding the lost so profoundly that Dewport was soon regarded as the safest harbor in the region.
Meanwhile, Sam continued guarding his post, his heart filled with contentment for having helped a trapped soul find release. His life, Since Selena’s liberation, was far from being lonely. Selena’s music still lingered in the coastal wind, her presence was inevitably felt in every ocean whisper, and her bond with Sam was immortalized in the magnificence of the Dewport Lighthouse's eternal glow.
