The Fortress of Forgotten Dreams

Long, long ago, high above the tranquil hamlet of Hemsworth, lay a vast fortress isolated from the buzz of human existence. This was known as 'The Fortress of Forgotten Dreams.' Hushed whispers claimed the fortress was home to dreams people had abandoned.
For centuries, there resided an ancient sibyl named Hypnos - the sentinel of dreams. He possessed a mystical chalice, powered by Stardust, capable of collecting and sheltering forgotten dreams. He'd been endowed with this task as a young boy, and through centuries, nurtured each dream with countless tales that travellers brought from their world.
One particularly cold night, a weary traveller named Theron trudged into the fortress, seeking refuge. Hypnos welcomed him, with a hot meal and a cozy corner by the hearth. As the fire crackled, Theron shared his tale; he spoke of his ambitions, of being a renowned inventor, dreams that refused to materialize. Growing weary and desolate, Theron parted with his dream, surrendering it to Hypnos.
Laying his idle dream in the chalice, Hypnos felt an uncontainable surge of emotions. For the first time, he connected with a dream so profoundly. Hypnos' usually dormant heart stirred, resonating with the dream. Day after day, he’d cradle the dream, and whisper stories of great inventors and their inventions.
A few moons later, Hypnos was visited by none other than Seraphina, the Lady of Stardust. She looked at that thriving dream with awe. Impressed by Hypnos' dedication, she proposed a pact - 'Once in your eternal life, you can bestow a forgotten dream back to its owner. But remember, you cannot undo the choice.'
Torn between his responsibility and empathy, Hypnos immediately thought of Theron. A part of him wanted to rekindle Theron's lost spirit, while another dreaded the disappointment if Theron still failed to realize his dream. Hypnos remembered Theron’s eyes, the spark momentarily lighting up while talking about his inventions, and he made his decision.
He travelled to Hemsworth, only to find Theron weary and worn down by hardships, living in abject misery, with dwindled spirit and soul. Hypnos approached Theron, revealing his identity and the purpose of his visit. Shock flickered in Theron's eyes, quickly replaced by the familiar glint of hope. He agreed, taking back the dream he had abandoned before.
Hypnos departed, leaving Theron with the rekindled dream. There were no immediate miracles, nor any celebratory declarations. But the change was contagiously apparent. Theron regained his vigour, working tirelessly in his workshop for nights on end, his spirit unbreakable.
One day, smoke signals rose from Theron's cottage, followed by a triumphant, joyful cry. The villagers congregated around and watched in amazement as Theron unveiled his invention - a contraption that could cart water from the well to any part of the village, saving hours of physical labour.
Theron's success transformed Hemsworth, making lives easier and fostering an environment where dreams could flourish. Whether in the Fortress of Forgotten Dreams or the vibrant village of Hemsworth, dreams thrived and flourished in every corner.
After this, Hypnos returned to his role of safeguarding abandoned dreams. He was content, knowing that even if he couldn't restore every dream, he had lit a beacon of hope for abandoned dreams to return to those who dreamed them. For Hypnos, it was the intricate balance of despair and hope, the essence of dreams, and their equivalent oblivion that kept the Fortress of Forgotten Dreams alive.
