The Forgotten Paradise

Joseph Thornton was an old man living a very ordinary life in the small town of Strawn in Kansas. There came a time in his life where he realized there was something missing, something he needs to pursue. This eventually led him to undertake a journey that was well beyond his age and physical capabilities.
In Joseph's earlier days, he was an avid reader. He read about the many wonders the world offered. One story that always resonated with him was that of the Lost Lands, a magnificent place filled with nature’s miracles. This story was presented to him through the pages of an old and dusty book he found in his grandparent's attic. As a child, he dreamt of exploring that mystical place, and it was this dream that rekindled in his old age.
Armed with determination and a rusty map from the old book, one evening, he left for the journey of a lifetime. In his rickety old station wagon, he left his quiet life and embarked on a quest towards his childhood dream.
Days turned into nights, and weeks into months. He traversed vast open plains, dense forests, and crossed a myriad of rivers. There were times when his faith wavered, weary by the tiresome journey, but the dream of discovering the Lost Lands always rekindled his spirit. Along the way, stoping at numerous small towns and villages, he interacted with a plethora of cultures and shared his vision, sometimes gaining more clues about his destination.
Eventually, he came upon a remote tribal village situated at the foot of a colossal mountain range. The chieftain spoke of an old tale passed down generations. The tale was about a forgotten paradise hidden behind those mountains. A place where time stood still, and nature was untouched by human greed.
With renewed hope and guidance, Joseph began his hardest trek. Brace against the chilling winds and unforgiving terrains. Despite the tests of nature, he never let his resolve wavered and pressed on.
After several days of strenuous journey, he finally arrived at a sight that overwhelmed him. It was an amassment of trees, an emerald sea that stretched out into infinity. The first glimpse that met his eyes was the mesmerizing waterfall that seemed to slice the emerald sea in half. The vivid rainbow at the foot of the fall added a magical touch to this natural spectacle. It was the Lost Lands, untouched and mystic, just like in the story of his old book.
From the luscious green treetops to the exotic animals that roamed freely, the place was an embodiment of nature's beauty and purity, a quintessential paradise. Words failed to capture the peaceful symphony of the waterfall crashing down, birds singing, and the the delicate rustling of leaves echoed in the background, reminding him that the Lost Lands was truly alive.
Despite the beautiful sight, Joseph felt a tinge of sadness. He realized that the world he left behind had lost touch with nature, succumbing to the machine of human progression. The tranquility and harmony experienced in Lost Lands felt like a forgotten language in the modern world.
Joseph decided to spend his remaining life there, seeking peace in the heart of nature. But before settling down, he took one last trip to the nearby village. To the chieftain and people who helped him, he confided his wish. He told them of his desire to keep the Lost Lands a secret, to prevent its exploitation.
The story of Joseph Thornton became a legend in the village, told and retold for generations. The people honored his wish, preserving the memory of that paradise to keep it from prying, destructive hands. Even today, in Strawn, Kansas, they sing the tales of the old man who sought and protected a forgotten paradise lost in time.
