The Forgotten Colors

Once upon a time, in a time both distant and forgotten, the world existed in only grayscale.
Yes, that's right. In the world of Grays, as it was known, there were no colors—only varying shades of black and white. People’s lives, their eyes, and every surrounding was devoid of color.
In Grays, lived a young boy named Alden. Alden was different from the other children. He dreamed of a world that never existed. He dreamed of a sky that wasn't gray, trees that were not black, and water that wasn't a shade of white. He envisioned a world that felt bright and alive. A world filled with colors.
Alden’s dreams continued to grow stronger, and his yearning for the colored world reflected in his actions. He collected soil and stones of different hues of gray and arranged them, trying to mimic the array of colors he saw in his dreams. But, no matter how hard he tried, gray was gray. It was not red, or blue, or green. It was monotonous, plain, and devoid of life.
His unusual dreams made Alden an object of ridicule in Grays. All except his dear friend Eira, who cherished Alden’s wildest imaginations. Eira didn’t see his escapade for a colored world as mere tales of a dreamer but recognized the potent fire of passion within them.
Eira and Alden would spending hours discussing Alden's dreams, the colors, and the effect they could have on their world. Eira once mentioned an ancient tale, often dismissed as a mere legend, of a place where the colors were born, 'The Shade Enchantress', found deep within the Mystic Forest.
Energized by this new ray of hope, Alden decided to venture into the intimidating depths of the Mystic Forest. Eira faithfully accompanied him. As they ventured further into the woods, the air grew chillier, and the towering trees seemed to grow murkier. After days of walking, they finally stood before a cavern, tucked away in the shadowy depths of the forest.
They stepped into the cavern, their eyes gradually adjusting to the darkness. A breathtaking sight unfolded before them—glimmers of color danced around them, reflecting off the ice stalactites, scattered fragments of the remaining colors left in the world. The cave was indeed the dwelling of the Shade Enchantress.
The Enchantress, seeing the fire in Alden’s heart, promised to restore the world’s colors. Upon her directions, Alden and Eira gathered dewdrops from the vibrantly colored flowers growing deep within the forest. These dewdrops were the tears of the departed colors that once graced the world.
The Enchantress, using her ancient magic and the gathered dewdrops, cast an incantation. With a blinding burst of light, the colors erupted into the sky, bathing the world in their brilliance. People of the Grays woke up to a dawn unseen in their lives before, a sky blooming in shades of orange and pink, fields of golden wheat, and children with sparkling blue and brown eyes.
Alden and Eira's return was met with apologies and admiration from their former skeptics. They were no longer outcasts. They were heroes who restored the Prismatic Miracle, ushering their lives away from the drudgery of monochrome into the theatre of vibrancy.
And so, Alden, the dreamer, and Eira, the believer, transformed their world from the perpetual gray, giving birth to the world you and I live in today—a world resplendent in a myriad of colors. It all started with a dream, a dream of a boy who wanted more than just different shades of gray.
