The Forgotten City of Eve
In the heart of the continent of Azula, shrouded in the wilderness untouched by civilization, existed a forgotten city, Eve. Separated by colossal mountains and infinite seas, the people of this hidden city led lives detached from the outside world, which gave birth to countless tales of feats and wonders among outsiders.
The city's architecture was etched with stunning, intricate carvings, their cobbled pathways winding across the city; homes with thatched roofs and weathered walls painted heartwarming pictures of tranquility. The river Alysia meandered across the city, its shimmering waters reflecting the tranquillity of Eve. It was the city of tranquil mornings and serene evenings, a city untouched by time.
Eve was guided by the wise leader, Heath, an embodiment of dignity and wisdom. Heath was born into the legacy of leadership, and like his forefathers, he nurtured tranquillity and peace within the city walls. He was fortified with the belief that their tranquil city was the last Eden, the untouched paradise, and significantly, the last hope for mankind should havoc rupture the outside world.
As days rolled by, Heath grew restless. He was anxious not for his people or the peace they savoured, but for a recurring prophecy which had been passed down for generations. The prophecy spoke about the day when Eve would be discovered by the ‘Outsiders.’ It said that the outsiders, enticed by the tales and the undiscovered knowledge that lay within the city, would disrupt the serenity of Eve.
Amidst this lingering dread, a day arrived where a stranger was found unconscious by the city gates. He was clothed in attire unseen and unheard of by the people of Eve. The stranger was quickly identified as an outsider—the first to breach the reclusive city in centuries. This unexpected arrival triggered a wave of unrest among the citizens, while Heath was consumed by the realization that the dreaded prophecy might be coming true.
The outsider, named Eli, woke to the curious eyes of Eve's people. With a calm demeanor that pacified those around, he shared stories of lands beyond their comprehension. Of wars waged for power, of civilizations overthrown by their very creators, and machines simulating human thoughts. He spoke of spaceships journeying across the cosmos and medicines prolonging human life.
Eli's tales, as terrifying as they were fascinating, left the townsfolk astounded but rattled Heath. For him, every story resonated as a grim reminder of the prophecy. His worst fear was becoming a reality—he was witnessing the aloof tranquillity of Eve facing the onslaught of disruptive change.
Realising the jeopardy inflicted by Eli's stories, Heath resolved to safeguard Eve and its people. He proposed a challenge to Eli—if Eli won, he could stay in Eve, and if he lost, he would be exiled forever. A contest of the mind, wit and knowledge was set—the indigenous wisdom of the Elders against the expansive science of Eli.
The challenge started with the issues their worlds faced. Eli's scientific solutions were met with indigenous solutions from the Elders, reflecting the sheer depth of their wisdom and their symbiotic relationship with nature. After exhaustive arguments and counterarguments, the Elders had the upper hand, marking Eli's defeat.
Despite losing, Eli gracefully accepted his exile, promising never to return or disclose the city's location. He departed with a fear in his heart—a fear of the chaos inflicted by uncontrollable science, the very chaos from which Eve had remained safe.
Heath's decision to send Eli away was marked with uncertainty, but in the end, the beauty of Eve laid bare. While the world embarked on a self-destructive quest for advancement, Eve remained a testament to mankind about the power of harmony, wisdom, and tranquillity. The forgotten city of Eve offered a lesson of hope and survival, reminding us of the simple yet powerful fact that not all progress is growth, and that the secret to survival lies in the tranquillity of balance.
