The Forgiving Oaks
Once upon a time, in a land far away, there was a small village named Nelt. Surrounded by an ancient oak forest, this village was special in its own way. It had been blessed and protected by a Divine Entity known as the Spirit of old Oaks, who had enwrapped the village in a magical aura that only those pure in heart could see.
The villagers lived in harmony with nature, thus maintaining a delicate balance. They strictly adhered to the rules, which included not causing harm to any living creature, not picking fruits off the oak trees, and always respecting the grandeur of the beings in the forest.
Among the villagers was a young lumberjack named Seth. Seth embodied the spirit of Nelt perfectly. Known for his kind heart and respect for all forms of life, he was a great favorite among the village folk. His deep respect for the oak forest was known far and wide. The forest, in return, had endowed Seth with unique skills, such as the ability to communicate with animals and the gift of healing.
However, Rollo, a merchant from a distant land, arrived in Nelt. Rollo was driven only by greed. He saw the forest, not as a divine entity, but as a gold mine filled with precious oakwood, ready to be exploited.
One dark night, Rollo lured Seth deeper into the forest under the pretense of a wounded animal needing help. As Seth rushed to help, Rollo trapped him in a magical cage. With Seth stuck, Rollo started ruthlessly felling the oak trees.
Each falling tree sent a pulse of pain through Seth. He called out to the spirit of the oaks for assistance. Hearing Seth’s plea, the oak spirit appeared and, witnessing the devastation, was filled with sorrow. But every cloud has a silver lining. The spirit, seeing Seth's pure heart and genuine remorse, decided to give humanity a second chance.
The Spirit released Seth from his cage and used its divine power to regrow the forest. Seth, now free, confronted Rollo, who was dismayed to see the forest regrowing instantly. Unable to comprehend what was happening, Rollo fled the village, never to be seen again.
Seth, the hero of Nelt, was welcomed back with much joy. The tale of his courage and the merciful act of the Oak Spirit became a legend. With the passage of time, Seth grew into a wise old man. His hair turned silver, but his love for the oak forest remained eternal.
The villagers unanimously decided to erect a statue of Seth as a token of admiration for his bravery and love for nature. As time passed on, generations came and went, but Seth’s statue remained, silently narrating the tales of a brave man and the forgiving spirit of the oaks.
Seth's love for nature is a reminder for all of us about the importance of respecting and preserving nature. Seth's story is not just a tale; it's a lesson of love, respect, and co-existence. The Forgiving Oaks is an age-old legend that still reverberates within the heart of the village, teaching everyone the importance of being in harmony with nature and its divine spirit.
