The Forgetful King and The Wisdom Woman

Once upon a time, in the land of Eshune, there ruled a generous but forgetful King called Fye. King Fye was loved by his subjects for his kindness and sense of justice, but his forgetfulness often put him in difficulty. His advisers would remind him of the important matters, but the King would forget them anyhow. So, his kingdom was at a constant loss. The news of his inefficacy because of his forgetfulness began to spread like wildfire.
One day, an old woman named Haza arrived in Eshune. She was known for her wisdom and her ability to cure people of their maladies. King Fye heard about Haza's arrival and decided to seek her help to get rid of his forgetfulness.
Haza agreed to help the King and started living in the palace. She used to spend her day observing the King's routine and manners. One day, she noticed something peculiar. The King was always surrounded by people who constantly reminded him of his forgetfulness. It was as if they were embedding the memory of being forgetful deeper into the King's mind.
Haza came up with a plan. She asked the King's advisers, servants, and subjects to stop reminding him of his weakness. Instead, they were to appreciate him for his good memory whenever he remembered even a simple thing. This was a difficult task, but bearing in mind their King’s future, the people of Eshune agreed.
They started praising King Fye daily, and slowly, the King started becoming more confident about his memory. He recalled decisions from previous meetings, remembered names and faces of his subjects, and even started recalling childhood stories.
After months of this practice, King Fye had indeed improved! The forgetfulness that plagued him was gone. He started making better decisions and even remembered the smallest details. The kingdom flourished, and the people loved their King more.
One day, the King asked Haza, 'How did you manage to jog my memory so effectively?' Haza replied, 'Your Majesty, you were never forgetful. All the talk about your forgetfulness made you believe that you couldn't remember anything. We can often become what people constantly remind us we are. I simply changed their reminders, and you blossomed!'
King Fye was moved by Haza's wisdom. He thanked her and honoured her with wealth and land. Word spread throughout the kingdom and beyond about the forgetful King who became wise, all thanks to a wise old woman.
And so, Eshune became known as the kingdom of wisdom, a place where people believed in building each other up, rather than breaking each other down.
Like King Fye, we are also often victims of what we let ourselves believe. The belief that he was forgetful had once made King Fye truly so. Once he changed his belief, he changed his life. Eshune's story serves as a reminder that the power of belief and affirmation is immense.
