Our journey takes us to a small coastal town in Scotland during the late 1700s. The protagonist of our tale is a bright, tough young girl named Ailsa, known for her fierce independence and curiosity. When a cluster of rare orchids blossomed overnight in the dead of winter, or when the town's old mill suddenly started working again after decades, Ailsa was always there, avidly collecting accounts and attempting to decipher patterns.
