The Enchanted Glade

Once upon a time in the outskirts of the kingdom of Vellamo, a prosperous land known for its crystal clear rivers, sprawling forests, rolling hills, and quaint villages, stood a hidden magical grove known only to a handful of residents. This story is about a young peasant boy, Lorcan, and his adventure that led him to the enchanted glade.
Lorcan lived with his widowed mother on the edge of a vast forest. His days usually consisted of chores and occasionally, fishing by the river. Despite his humble life, Lorcan always carried a spirit of insurmountable joy and curiosity. His mother often shared tales of mystical creatures and enchanted lands that sparked Lorcan's fascination.
One chilly morning, while cutting wood near the forest edge, he spotted a silver-white deer with shimmering blue eyes looking at him. Entranced by its beauty, Lorcan decided to follow it into the thickets, unknowingly entering the invisible boundary into the mystical world.
The deeper Lorcan followed the deer, the more surreal the surroundings appeared. The dark feel of the forest gave way to a lighter, magical atmosphere. Tall trees twinkled with luminous fruits, flowers bloomed in surreal colors, and the buzzing of mythical creatures echoed. At the heart of this surprising wilderness was a glade, radiating an ethereal glow.
In the middle of the glade was a majestic tree bearing a single golden apple, glimmering in the sunlight. Lorcan was captivated by the sight, but before he could approach it, a voice boomed, "Who dares to enter the realm of the Enchanted Glade?" The voice came from none other than the silver-white deer he was pursuing.
Startled yet determined, Lorcan responded, "I mean no harm. I merely followed out of curiosity." The deer, who introduced himself as if he were Elsu, the guardian of the Glade, recognized the innocence and pure intentions in Lorcan's voice. But warned him, "Remember, young human, the enchantment of the Glade can be overwhelming. Use its magic wisely, or face dire consequences.",Elsu guided Lorcan to the golden apple. On consuming it, Lorcan was bestowed with the ability to understand and communicate with nature. The trees whispered secrets, and the river narrated stories. Overwhelmed with joy, Lorcan thanked Elsu before departing.
Back home, Lorcan used his gift to help his village. He could predict the weather, locate lost belongings, and even heal minor injuries with the assistance of various plants. Word of his abilities spread across the kingdom, and people from far away lands started seeking his assistance.
However, with power came the fear of misuse. The greedy Duke of Vellamo heard of Lorcan's abilities and ordered him to use his powers to find the lost royal treasure. Lorcan knew the pursuit of wealth was not what his gifts were meant for and refused the Duke’s order.
Angered by Lorcan's refusal, the Duke threatened to destroy his village. With no other option, Lorcan reluctantly agreed and used his abilities to track the royal treasure. However, upon retrieving the treasure, Lorcan felt a strange fatigue, like a piece of his heart was vanishing.
He quickly returned to the enchanted glade and explained his dilemma to Elsu. Understanding the situation, Elsu appreciated Lorcan's courage to admit his mistake. He explained, "Lorcan, the glade's magic is bound by selflessness, love, and respect for nature. Using it for selfish intents drains its essence.",Ashamed yet enlightened, Lorcan returned the treasure to the Duke and convinced him to respect the power of the Glade. Astonishingly, the Duke pardoned Lorcan, maintaining peace in the kingdom, and Lorcan continued to use his gift responsibly, serving his people and protecting nature.
And so, Lorcan's story remains a folk tale in Vellamo, reminding its inhabitants of the delicate balance between power and responsibility, magic and nature, curiosity and respect.
