The Elephant's Prophecy
Long ago in the magical Satpura Ranges of India, there lived a wise old elephant named Bhola. He was immensely respected by all animals in the jungle for his wisdom and peace-loving nature.
His wisdom came from one unique gift that separated him from the rest. Bhola was born with the ability to foresee the future through his dreams. This was a gift and a burden, for with it came the responsibility of protecting his fellow beings.
One night, Bhola had an unsettling dream. He saw a strange-looking creature with two legs and a stick that spit fire destroy their beautiful jungle. Bhola was terrified, recognizing the two-legged creatures from the tales of their ancestors who spoke of humans. Thus, he called a meeting to warn the other animals.
Some believed Bhola, but others, chiefly a sly and treacherous fox named Kutil, dismissed him, accusing him of trying to assert dominance over the jungle. Despite the division, the peace remained, and the animals continued their lives as before, though with a sense of unease looming in the air.
Weeks passed until one day, not far from where they lived, the quiet of the forest was disrupted by unfamiliar sounds - loud, harsh, and violent. The animals quickly discovered that the strange noise was a group of two-legged creatures - humans, chopping down the trees. Panic ensued as the peaceful hierarchy of the jungle was disturbed.
Bhola realized that the time had arrived to act. But, knowing the danger and violence the humans could bring, he decided to approach them diplomely. To his surprise, among the loggers was a young boy, Rohit, who seemed different.
Bhola approached Rohit, and to his surprise, the boy didn't run. Instead, he looked at Bhola with curiosity and compassion. Realizing that Rohit could communicate with him, Bhola conveyed his plea for their land. Rohit was taken aback, having never considered how his actions were affecting the creatures of the forest.
With his gentle, courageous spirit, Rohit stood up for the jungle, but the loggers didn't heed him. Desperate to save his jungle home, Rohit thought of an idea. His grandmother was the village elder, revered and respected, her word was the law.
Mustering his strength, Bhola accompanied Rohit to meet the grandmother. Surprised by the unusual encounter, the old lady listened to her grandson and Bhola, understanding the urgency of the situation. She felt the depths of Bhola's wisdom and the sincerity in Rohit's pleas.
In response, she sanctioned a critical order that declared the forest a sacred place, not to be harmed in any way, and expelled the loggers. The humanness of the boy and the wisdom of the old elephant together saved their jungle from destruction.
Bhola’s prophecy had come true, but so did his bravery and wisdom in averting that future. From that day forward, two-legs and four, feathers and leaves, scales and skin, they all lived in harmony, respecting boundaries, and cherishing the land they shared.
Bhola, their dearest elephant, was hailed as a hero and revered even more for he had not just foretold a calamitous future, he had led them safely away from it. However, it wasn't just his wisdom that saved them all. It was also the bravery of a little two-legged creature named Rohit. They reminded each other how they're just creatures sharing an exquisite home, and it was the respect for this mutual existence that brought peace in the end.
