The Dragon of Eldon
In the once tranquil town of Eldon, tales whispered of a mythical creature, an epitome of unrelenting courage and uprising, known as the Dragon of Eldon, which made the town's colorful past.
The story began centuries ago, when Eldon was a mere hamlet. A corrupt king, Mordred, governed the kingdom. Mordred was a tyrant; his oppressive reign led to widespread terror and anguish. Yet, amidst this turmoil, a young boy, Elric, showed the audacity to stand against Mordred's reign.
Elric was a simple shepherd boy with virtuous intentions, coming from a family of humble means. He was known among the villagers due to his extraordinary skill of storytelling, which spread like wild fire. Elric, through his stories, would often instill hope, which was a much-needed respite for the tormented villagers.
One day, while tending to his flock, Elric stumbled upon a large, intimidating egg, nestled away in the heart of the forest. At a closer look, he realized it was nothing less than a dragon egg! Days turned into weeks, wherein Elric nurtured the dragon egg, feeding it with potent herbs and whispering ancient lullabies till it finally hatched. Out sprung an astonishingly majestic creature. Elric named him Gideon, and in time, Gideon grew to be a fierce and loyal dragon.
Meanwhile, King Mordred caught wind of the growing sprout of rebellion within the village. Fearing an uprising, he ordered his soldiers to execute anyone suspected of treachery. Unfortunately, Elric's association with the villagers put him in harm’s way. Mordred’s men seized Elric, leaving Gideon homeless and isolated.
Unaware of his master's predicament, Gideon was rustling through the forest when he heard the news of Elric’s capture. He was filled with rage and despair. The idea of losing Elric made his heart heavy, but it also ignited a new spark in him, the spark of rebellion.
Embracing his destiny, Gideon flew towards the township, his fiery eyes reflecting his rising fury. His sudden appearance stunned the town, filling the hearts of the ruthless Kingsmen with dread. His roars echoed across the kingdom, and the entire city vibrated under his raw power. Fierce flames erupted from his mouth, scorching the grand meeting hall, forcing the soldiers to retreat. Mordred, terrified, released Elric and surrendered, seeking mercy.
The townfolk, who had been tormented for years under Mordred’s cruelty, hailed Gideon, chanting his name in unison. Gideon, with Elric on his back, flew around the town, symbolizing the dawn of the new age. Days of torment and anguish were replaced by harmony and jubilation. Eldon became free from the clutches of the tyrant, becoming a kingdom of peace.
In the days that followed, the villagers erected a statue for the Dragon of Eldon in the main square, beside which Elric stood tall. Gideon and Elric became symbols of courage and defiance, their legacy inspiring future generations to stand up against tyranny. To this day, the tales of their brave rebellion and the Dragon of Eldon continue to echo across the kingdom.
To stand up against any form of oppression, even if it’s from a reigning tyrant, is valorous. This tale of Elric and the Dragon of Eldon is a testament to that. They not only saved the village from a despotic king but also instilled faith in the hearts of the villagers, thus proving that courage begets freedom.
