The Dawn of Red Lily
Once upon a time, in a quiet village on the brink of the Silver Forest, lay a small Corsican style cottage where lived a girl named Lily with her grandmother. Lily had a unique charm about her, illuminated by her fiery red hair, oyster white complexion, and eyes that twinkled like the arm of the Orion in the cloudless, starry night.
Life in this small village was usually quiet and calm, but the villagers held in their hearts the legend of the towering, mystic Silver Forest. As legend had it, eons ago, the forest was ruled by a gargantuan, regal dragon who guarded a treasure unseen by mortal eyes; a treasure that granted its owner the knowledge and strength to conquer the realms.
Every year, the bravest of the villagers ventured into the depths of the Silver Forest on the night of the blood moon, hopeful they would return as the conqueror of realms, but they never returned. This never deterred the other adventurous spirits who tried year after year, only to be lost to the forest forever.
One day, Lily's beloved grandmother fell sick. Despite the villagers' concerted efforts, her health waned like a flickering lantern on a stormy night. In her weakening whispers, she spoke to Lily of her wish to see the coveted treasure before her time in this world ended. With her grandmother's dream burning in her heart, Lily decided to journey into the Silver Forest, from where no one had ever returned.
On the night of the blood moon, Lily armed herself with a worn-out map and her grandmother's lily pendant that was said to guard against all evil. The forest was cloaked in a shroud of mystery, silent as if the very world was holding its breath. The towering trees, faceless in the darkness, echoed the stories of the lost souls.
Lily treaded the rugged forest paths, through the nettles and brambles, her determination lighting her way. On the third day, she reached the heart of the forest. In the clearing against the morning sun, standing as mighty as the legends painted it, was the creature she sought - the dragon of the Silver Forest.
Seeing her, the dragon bellowed, 'Why should I entrust the treasure to you, young maiden?' Lily, showing not a trace of fear, replied, 'I came here not for myself but to fulfill my grandmother's wish, the only family I've known.' After weighing Lily's words, the dragon bestowed upon her a choice: to choose between obtaining the treasure or save her life. Lily, without a moment's hesitation, chose her life.
Impressed by the wisdom in her choice, the dragon revealed the true nature of the treasure. It was not precious metals or gems, but the power of selflessness, courage, wisdom, and love. These were the real riches that held the power to conquer realms.
Upon returning home, Lily was greeted with astonishment and joy. True to her character, she devoted her energy to use those invaluable lessons she learned in the forest. Lily's undeterred spirit, enhanced with the dragon's wisdom, led the village to prosperity, happiness, and good health.
In her twilight years, Lily narrated this tale to her grandchildren, the light of the fire dancing in her eyes. As the tale of The Red Lily spread, she had become a legend herself, shaping the village's culture for its future generations. And thus, the Dragon's wisdom persevered, illuminating the paths of many, just like the dawn of each new day.
