The Crystal Sea and the Lost City
There was an old seaman who lived along the burgeoning coast of Daleville, a small, picturesque village located on a cliff overlooking the crystal sea. His name was Alistair, a firm and rustic man known for his extraordinary tales of far-off lands, great beasts and exquisite bounties buried under the vast expanse of the sea. But of all his tales, the one that fascinated the villagers the most was the story of the Lost City of Meridia, a tale that perfectly blended the allure of mythical creatures, an enchanting kingdom, and the timeless valor of the adventures of his younger days.
Alistair often started his tale at the break of dawn, by the sea's edge, while the villagers, hypnotized by his presence and soon-to-be-told fable, sat around him in a circle. He had a mystical way of spinning his tale, making even the rustle of leaves seem like whispered secrets of the ancient cities and the rhythmic splashing of the waves akin to the sea's own melody, serenading their ears with the city's tragic elegy.
Meridia, he began, was no ordinary city. It was an awe-striking metropolis underwater, illuminated by glimmering pearls and precious jewels that sparkled brighter than the stars on the darkest nights. Its monumental castles were adorned in gold, and the entire seascape glittered under the sun's mystical radiance that found its way through the surface of the crystal sea.
Born from the sea's sapphire depths were the Meridians; ethereal beings who were a beautiful blend of humans and the creatures of the sea. They were farmers of pearls, tenders of the endangered sea life, and nurturers of the corals. It was an abundant fraternity where harmony echoed in the homes, resonated in the bustling town halls, and thrived in every Meridian's heart.
However, an earthquake and a fierce sea storm shattered this peaceful existence. The pillars of peace cracked, homes were slain down, and life as they knew it went into somber oblivion. Sadness enveloped the once buoyant city, and a pall of gloom replaced the golden hue. Yet, amidst this catastrophe, hope sailed in a tiny ship captained by their young prince, Talbot.
Determined to save his people, Talbot sought the legendary Sea Oracle's help. A quest filled with trials awaited him. Competing with deadly sea beasts, traversing through treacherous whirlpools, and testing his resilience were some of the grueling challenges he met and surpassed. All along, the spirit of adventure, courage, and most importantly, the love for his people guided Prince Talbot.
When he finally found the Oracle, his tired yet hopeful eyes were met with sincerity. The Oracle listened to his solemn plea, moved by his audacious journey and the genuine heart beating for Meridia. As a ritual, the Oracle cast a spell granting him a single wish.
Standing resolute, the prince wished to restore the city to its former glory and for its inhabitants to be impervious to such disaster ever in the future. The spell was cast, and with it, the city of Meridia rose from its devastation, shimmering brighter than ever.
Prince Talbot returned to a city blooming with joyous relief and prosperity. From that day onwards, Meridia shone under the sea, a beacon of hope, testament to a prince's daring courage, and the love he bore for his kingdom. Their aura could be seen on nights when the sea was tranquility personified; the waves bore shining specks flowing towards the shore, and the sea echoed their joyous songs. The energy, they say, was a dancing spectacle of fairy-like lights on the water surface and has been the spectacle calling people to celebrate 'The Lights of Meridia' festival in Daleville ever since.
Every time Alistair concluded his tale, an aura of awe and wonderment hung in the air. His words painted the tale vividly in the listeners' minds, instilling the magical belief that under the crystal sea's glistening surface lived a city, beautifully lost and yet, marvelously found.
