The Chronicles of the Lost City of Zerzura

Once upon a time, in the land of towering mountains and enchanted valleys, resided the mythical city of Zerzura. Shrouded in enigma, this city of pure white walls was said to be hidden deep in the uninhabitable Sahara desert, unbeknownst to humankind. Its tale was woven around the belief that it held a piece of heaven on earth - lush green gardens, gem-laden palaces, and streams gurgling with ambrosia, all guarded by black giants. But to find Zerzura, one had to be chosen.
In the bustling streets of Cairo, lived a humble cartographer, Faris, whose fascination with Zerzura was unparalleled. Drawn by the promise of the city’s splendour, Faris decided to embark on an audacious journey into the heart of the Sahara desert. Armed with nothing but his perseverance, astute knowledge of the sands, and a reliable camel - he took the plunge. As he disappeared into the golden waves of sands, the last of the city’s hum faded, leaving the whispers of the desert winds as his only companion.
Days turned into nights, and nights into blinding sandstorms making Faris question his sanity. His determination wavered, his resolve began to crumble until on the fourteenth day, when hope seemed lost, he saw the silhouette of a colossal black figure. The shadow grew, taking the form of a giant, and Faris found himself face-to-face with the guardian of Zerzura. The giant demanded to know the purpose of Faris’s journey, to which Faris replied with his sincere intentions of witnessing the mythical city. The giant looked into his soul and, recognizing the purity of his intentions, allowed him to pass.
Entering the city, Faris was greeted by views beyond his wildest dreams. Zerzura shone, its white walls gleaming in the desert sun, the garden’s foliage was greener than the deepest emerald, and the stream water's sparkle outshone the brightest diamonds. Entranced by the city's captivating beauty, he wandered around for days, soaking in the city’s tales through its grand architecture, and its opulent charm. However, deep down, Faris felt a longing for sharing this magnificent discovery with the world.
The day came when he decided to depart, a choice that resulted in an unforeseen dilemma. With his decision, he was given the city’s most precious gem in return for a vow: Zerzura must remain a secret, hidden and unviolated by the greed of the world.
Taking a final look at the white city gleaming under the desert sun, Faris accepted the gem and made his vow. Back in Cairo, he returned to his life of obscurity, with the tales of Zerzura etched firmly in his heart. The gem and his incredible journey became nothing but tales spun around late-night fires, stories that sparked inspiration and adventure in the hearts of its listeners, just as it once did in a humble cartographer's heart in the streets of Cairo.
