Once, in a kingdom far away, Meer, a young shepherd lived with his doting grandmother. He was known for his courage and compassion. The kingdom had been cursed by nefarious dragon, Shrakem, who demanded a tribute of sheep every month to keep the kingdom intact. This predicament was both frightening and robbing the happiness of the people.

One day, Meer's youngest lamb was chosen to be the next tribute. The thought of losing his beloved pet devastated him. He decided that he had to put an end to this tyranny. He packed some food, kissed his grandmother and headed for the dragon's lair.

As he trekked the treacherous mountains, he met a hermit named Zafar who had an air of wisdom and magic about him. On learning about his journey, Zafar lent Meer an enchanted sword which could combat any creature. Overwhelmed by his generosity, Meer continued his journey holding the sword tightly.

Upon reaching the lair, Meer was startled by the size of the dragon. As he drew out the sword, the dragon laughed fiercely, surely a boy couldn't be courageous enough to face him. But, Meer was fearless, his eyes firm on his goal to save his lamb and end the dragon's reign of terror.

The battle between the boy and the dragon went on for hours. At last, Meer spotted a vulnerable part on the dragon's body and thrust his sword into it. Moaning in agony, Shrakem breathed his last fire, and was slain. Meer unlocked the cage and held his lamb tight, relieved.

When Meer and his lamb returned to the village, they were hailed as heroes. They were greeted with cheers, laughter, and gratitude. He had not just saved his lamb, but also freed the kingdom of the dreadful curse, and they danced in joy as the young hero returned strategically defeating the dragon. Meer walked to his grandmother, freeing her of the fear that had shadowed her face earlier. That night, the kingdom celebrated like never before, for the hero had returned.

Meer lived out his days as a shepherd, training his successors with stories of courage and lessons on compassion. The tale of young Meer and his heroic feat became a legendary folklore, sung by the poets through ages and thus he was remembered for his bravery, forever etching his name in the hearts of the citizens of his kingdom.
