The Box of Caelum the Seraph
A long time ago, in the vibrant city of Morioh, there lived an eccentric antique dealer named Old Darius. He was picturesque, not just in his peculiar fashion sense comprising vintage tweed suits and bold derby hats, but also his grand collection of rare antiquities. Amongst his vast collection, a mystical wooden box engraved with strange symbols stood out. It was said to be crafted in the 18th century and had been passed through generations.
Just like every seasoned heirloom, the box was accompanied by a legend. The legend suggested that it housed an ancient existence, a powerful sentient entity named Caelum the Seraph. Once released, this entity could either unleash boundless miracles or unimaginable horrors, depending entirely on the intentions of the one who dared to awaken it.
One day, the curious young errand boy called Ashton stumbled upon the artifact. Knowing nothing of its power and heedless of the shopkeeper's warnings, Ashton decided to open it. A dazzling light spilled out of the box and a magnificent entity, shimmering in opulent shades of gold, emerged. Caelum the Seraph had awakened.
Caelum possessed an eerily alluring aura. His eyes held a gaze that could peer into souls, able to discern the true motives hidden beneath. Upon seeing this supernatural spectacle before him, the impressionable Ashton was deeply moved. He considered himself blessed to be chosen and felt an overwhelming sense of power, a feeling he hoped to cling to.
Upon realizing his newfound power, Ashton used it recklessly. He convinced Caelum to do his chores, fetch him treasures, impress girls, and even intimidate his bullies. As time passed, he started losing friends, who were scared and suspicious of the strange occurrences around Ashton. Growing in power but deteriorating in humanity and companionship, Ashton treaded a treacherous path.
Meanwhile, Old Darius discovered the box opened and was gripped by fear. He ventured to find Ashton, determined to save the city and redeem the young lad from his own folly. His search led him to Ashton's school, where he found himself surrounded by strange phenomena.
Afraid that Ashton would cause irreversible damages, Darius confronted the boy and revealed the complete legend to him. The angelic entity Ashton has befriended would eventually consume him if not controlled prudently. Fear and regret consumed Ashton.
All of a sudden, the earth trembled beneath them, and shadows started swirling around, morphing into frightening entities. It was Caelum, now a menacing figure, furious at Ashton's betrayal.
Knowing the city's safety was in his hands, Old Darius chanted a seraphic binding spell he learned from his ancient texts. As he chanted, a warm, brilliant light enveloped him, freezing Caelum mid-air and nullifying his wrath. The trembling earth calmed and shadows gradually dissipated. The ancient entity, still furiously resisting, gradually weakened and was finally forced back into the box. The final click of the closing box echoed in the eerie silence.
Ashton, having learned the error of his ways, thanked Darius for saving him and Morioh. Darius, in return, imparted a word of wisdom, advising Ashton to seek power in knowledge and wisdom, not supernatural entities.
The box of Caelum the Seraph was once again locked and returned to its place, an ordinary antique piece among many in Darius's shop, its shimmering occupant a secret only Ashton and Darius knew of. Together, they chose to protect Morioh, holding a surreal tale as a warning of the hazards of unchecked power, a testament to their shared adventure.
