The Book of Fates
Peter was a humble farmer, living in the outskirts of the small town of Applewood. He loved the solitude of the countryside, the chirping birds in the morning, and the tranquil silence that lay over the fields. His only companion was his faithful dog, Max. Every day, Peter and Max would take long walks around the farm, surveying the ripe apple trees that filled the horizon with red and green. Peter felt content in his solitude.
One day, while they were on their way back home from the farm, Peter noticed Max sniffing the ground near an enormous apple tree. Curiosity took over Peter as he saw Max continuously dig at the ground. He decided to see what caught Max's interest and began digging. To his surprise, he found a buried chest. He inquisitively opened it, only to reveal an old, dusty book.
The book was made of rich leather and felt heavy in his hands. The title engraved in gold, 'The Book of Fates'. That night, Peter sat in his wooden rocking chair, Max at his feet, as he began flipping through the pages. The book was filled with stories of mighty emperors, adventurous explorers, brave knights, and magical lands. It was as though Destiny herself had been writing the chronicle of the world.
Days turned into weeks as he got engrossed in the stories. He lived the life of heroes and knights. He journeyed through perilous adventures and witnessed magical happenings. With every story, Peter felt a change in himself. He even observed a prospering change in his farm, the apple trees bore a richer harvest while the fields seemed lusher.
One day, Peter came upon a page that was unlike any other. It was a prophecy, 'A humble hand that guards the seed, Finds the book and takes heed. His fate shall change, and so the world's. As the destiny finally unfurls.' Peter felt a shiver crawl up his spine as he read the lines. He started to believe that he was the humble guard mentioned in prophecy.
Compelled by the prophecy's power, Peter decided to venture beyond his farm, just like the adventuring heroes in the book. He knew he had a role to play, a destiny unfulfilled. Leaving his farm under Max's watch, Peter journeyed towards Applewood, where he began helping those in need. Using his knowledge of farming, he instructed the villagers to harvest better crops. He became the unsung hero of his small town.
His name echoed beyond Applewood. People from neighboring towns came seeking advice. His wisdom was not just confined to farming but also extended to solving disputes, healing relationships, and constructing resilient buildings. The Books of Fates had changed him from a humble farmer to a man of wisdom and significance.
As months passed by, Peter realized his purpose. He was not destined for a knight's glory or emperor's power. His was a journey of service, making people's life better. He had been able to unite his small town and neighboring areas. Intricate relationships formed, trade flourished, and a new town was born under Peter's leadership, which he named New Applewood.
In his journey, Peter realized that destiny is not purely an element of chance; it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved. He had found and fulfilled his prophecy.
Years later, Peter returned to his farm one last time. He buried the Book of Fates under the same apple tree where he found it, allowing destiny to seek another deserving soul. As he left, he looked back at the farm, a lingering smile on his face, knowing he had fulfilled his fate.
Peter, the humble farmer, had transformed into Peter of New Applewood, a man of wisdom, a leader, a humble hand shaping the world's destiny, and all through the power of a magical book; the Book of Fates.
