The Becoming of the Dragon Whisperer

Once upon a time, in the land of Frosthaven, there was a legend about a creature known as the Dragon Whisperer. His tale began with a humble young boy named Ethankar.
Ethankar was not like the other children in his village. He was quiet and withdrawn, frequently prone to intense bouts of imagination. His fascination with dragons set him apart, as these creatures were typically seen as a menacing threat. Ever since Ethankar heard tales of these gargantuan beasts, his fascination had grown. He was known to sketch intricate portraits of dragons in his free time, his vivid imagination painting fantastical beasts coursing through the sky, breathing fire.
Meanwhile, not far from Ethankar's village, a gargantuan beast indeed roamed - a majestic dragon named Velthrys. He was both feared and revered, untouched by the world of men, existing as the last of his kind. However, Velthrys was not inherently evil as the stories painted him. He was lonely, misunderstood by the world that feared him due to his size and power.
Ethankar's curiosity eventually led him to Velthrys's lair. As he approached the dark cavern that the dragon called home, he was surprisingly devoid of fear. Ethankar entered the lair to find Velthrys awake, his golden eyes, powerful as the sun, intensely observing the tiny human. Instead of attacking, however, Velthrys observed Ethankar out of curiosity and mutual misunderstandings.
The dragon and the boy built a relationship on centuries-old myths and unspoken stories. Ethankar's fascination caused him to learn the dragon's tongue, gradually understanding the dragon's thoughts and emotions. He became the bridge between the humans and the dragon, working to dismantle years of fear and misunderstandings.
As Ethanker grew older, so did his knowledge and wisdom about dragons. He realized that dragons were not the monsters that his folk songs depicted but were beings very similar to humans. They hurt, loved, wept, and sang, just like the humans.
Word spread about a young man who could communicate with the dragons. People came from far and wide to witness this remarkable feat. Ethankar, now known as the Dragon Whisperer, became a beacon of hope and peace between the human and dragon world.
However, a powerful knight Sir Loren, blinded by greed for power and wealth, saw Velthrys as a giant treasure chest. The knight was known for his cruelty and ambition, willing to do anything for his selfish desires. He heard about the 'Dragon Whisperer' and hatched a plan to exploit the relationship Ethankar had formed with Velthrys.
Sir Loren took Ethankar captive, demanding that he ordered Velthrys to surrender his treasure. Ethankar, knowing Velthrys's power and temper, refused to comply, but the cruel knight remained unmoved. Lady Elara, a fair maiden secretly obsessed with Ethankar since their childhood, managed to set him free.
Freeing himself from the ropes, Ethankar raced towards the dragon's lair. Velthrys, sensing the approaching danger, was readying himself for an attack. Ethankar used an ancient dragon-summoning song, his voice echoing in the mountains. Recognising the distinct melody, Velthrys calmed his rage. But in his stead, Sir Loren charged at the fiery beast.
Unfortunately for the knight, Velthrys was not a mere beast. The dragon released a mighty roar and a powerful stream of fire, forcing Sir Loren to retreat and leaving Ethankar and Velthrys in peace.
The villagers, witnessing the whole event, realized the elemental truth: dragons were not the monsters they believed them to be. Instead, monsters could well be among them. From that day forward, dragons and humans coexisted peacefully, as Ethankar continued his role as Dragon Whisperer, the liaison between the two worlds.
