The Baker and The Beast

Once upon a time, nestled between two hills, lay the sweet little village of Whispering Willow. The village was a tapestry of architectural marvels, with picturesque farms tucked away between stringing rivers and lush green woods.
Benjamin, a young lad of 12, was renowned across villages for his kind heart and valor. An orphan, Benjamin worked at the village bakery where he lived in a small smoky room above the bread ovens.
On a crisp and frosty morning, when the bakery was carpeted with snowflakes, an unexpected visitor arrived. Hunchbacked, covered tip to toe in black attire, an old woman ventured into the bakery. It was Agnes, the witch feared by all but known to none.
Benjamin greeted her warmly. Agnes, looking mellower than usual, requested a special bread order for the winter solstice. Benjamin agreed and promised to meet her demands.
Working diligently, Benjamin had successfully baked the bread a day before the solstice. Bracing the night, he began his journey towards Agnes’s cabin, which was located deep within the murky pines. Upon reaching, sheer terror gripped him. In place of Agnes was a ghastly creature with grotesque features. This beast was awakened from a centuries-long slumber, free to wreck havoc due to the witch's illness.
Paralyzed with fear, Benjamin clutched the basket of bread tightly. He offered the fresh loaves of bread to the beast. The smell of the bread warmed its icy soul, calming down its wrath. It thrashed around less violently, and its terrifying roars softened into low grumbles.
With every loaf eaten, the beast's ferocity diminished, and its features transformed. Now, instead of a terrifying creature, a handsome prince was standing in front of Benjamin.
'Thank you, baker boy,' the prince nodded, expressing his gratitude. The bread was enchanted, a ingredient that could break the curse only if prepared with love and dedication.
Returning to the village, Benjamin was welcomed as a hero. Agnes disappeared, letting her actions serve as her penitence. The village celebrated their newfound peace, and the prince was reunited with his kingdom after centuries of despair. As for Benjamin, he continued to warm hearts with his baking prowess, proving that kindness, love, and dedication can melt the iciest hearts and defeat the scariest monsters.
