Song of The Silence
In the verdant valley of Vedryll, on the outskirts of time, lived a community of people who communicated through telepathy, dubbed 'Tellys'. The valley nestled between towering mountains, glistened with clear spring ponds and echoed with chirping of the birds; however, there was a deafening silence, artful, embedded in every corner of Vedryll for no spoken languages existed there. The focus of the story is a boy, let's name him Eiryn, the misfit, the only one whispered to be born under the 'broken star'.
Eiryn was unlike the Tellys. He was born with the ability to speak but without the gift of telepathy, a strange phenomenon in the otherwise harmonious land. Instead, Eiryn had a gift of his own - the ability to make enchanting music, weaving exquisite symphonies in the silence of Vedryll. With every strum on his lute, he could draw forth emotions, stories and weave an evocative narrative that transcended the tangible, outdoing any form of telepathic exchange.
As time passed, Eiryn's music became the voice of the voiceless, the Telly's secret emotions and thoughts articulated in the cadence of harmonious notes. They silently revered Eiryn's gift even though they pitied him for his perceived handicap. His music was a star of solace in the uniformly silent nights.
However, the ruling council of Vedryll still abhorred Eiryn's 'noise'. They weren't captivated by the music as it disrupted their peaceful silence. Eiryn was taken into custody, his lute surrendered and people banned from seeing him. They labelled his music as 'chaos disturbing the silence', neglecting the perils of their own unaccustomed silence.
The silence of Vedryll, once serene, started transforming into an isolating phenomenon. With Eiryn's music suppressed, the Tellys ended up deprived of their secret emotional pillar. They also noticed a strange alteration in their telepathic abilities; increased silences, stuttering thought-transmissions and even total blackouts.
The council attributed the disruption to cosmic interference but Seraphine, a young Telly girl, held a different belief. An ardent admirer of Eiryn's music, she had felt a void when his magical notes ceased serenading the silence. She believed that Eiryn's music was not just a medium of outing their confined emotions but also an essential element of harmonizing the innate telepathic channels. To prove her point and save Eiryn, Seraphine did what was unthinkable in Vedryllst society; she stole the lute and took it back to Eiryn.
When Eiryn played again, sounds oscillating in the silent air, the Tellys felt an immediate mending in their telepathic channels. Eiryn was freed and his music was acknowledged not as a disruptor of peace but an enhancer of their communication and emotional symbiosis. The story of Eiryn resonates with the fact that embracing differences can lead to harmony and progress instead of adhering strictly to traditions and norms. Eiryn's music became the song of peace, respect and unity in diversity, rendering the silence of Vedryll harmonious yet again.
