Lost on Laurel Street

Once upon a time, in a quiet town named Cedar Vista, there was a street - Laurel Street liked by all. It was no ordinary street but unique in its charm with heritage styled houses, ancient trees and the infamous Rutherford Mansion at the end of the street.
Not many knew about the true mystery the Mansion hid behind its heavy cast-iron gates and towering stone walls. Anyone who attempted to reveal its real enigma never made back home, mysteriously disappeared without a trace. The Mansion thus cast a spell of icy fear on this otherwise warm and welcoming small town.
Cedrick, a teenage boy, brave and audacious, had just moved into Cedar Vista. Nothing could scare him, not even ghost stories from his new friends, who warned him about the Rutherford Mansion. Out of curiosity and a desire to be different, Cedrick decided to embark on an adventure to unveil the Mansion's mystery personally.
Equipped with an old map, a flashlight, and a heart full of courage, Cedrick approached the Mansion in the last rays of the setting sun. He hesitated for a moment before pushing the rusty gates of the Mansion open. As he stepped in, the gate creaked shut behind him, and he found himself standing on a cobblestone path leading to the Mansion.
Inside the mansion, dust-clad furniture and spider-webs were an indication of its abandonment. The deafening silence combined with the strange aura made his heart pound. Still, he felt an inexplicable pull to continue.
Along the cobweb-infested hallway, through a cracked wooden door, he discovered an old study room. Within it lay scattered notes and an open diary. Cedrick picked up the diary and found entries dating back to 1878, written by a man named Robert Rutherford. Upon reading, he discovered that the Mansion was home to a secret door leading to a hidden treasure.
With a sudden surge of motivation, Cedrick began to explore the mansion in search of this secret door. After seemingly endless search, he found an odd-looking wall with a pattern matching depiction in the diary. He pushed it and voila! It revealed a hidden staircase leading underground.
Cedrick climbed down the stairs, which opened into a large cavern with walls glittering of gold. It was a scene captured in fairytales, filled with unimaginable treasures, coins, jewelry, artifacts speckled with dust but glowing ominously in the dim light.
Overwhelmed, Cedrick realized he was the first one to discover the Mansion's true secret. He was captivated by an ornate, royal blue gemstone resting on a pedestal. As he cautiously approached the gemstone, it beamed, and a holograph of a man appeared. The man introduced himself as Robert Rutherford, the Mansion's original owner. He explained that the treasure was laid for the one brave enough and deserved to find it.
In the succeeding conversation that Cedrick had with the holograph, he found out that Robert was a time-traveler, who collected these treasures from his journeys. Using his last bit of existence to ensure the treasure’s safety, he was also responsible for the disappearances, sending them back in time unknowingly, causing chaos in the timeline.
Cedrick, stunned by the revelation, promised to guard the treasure and the mansion's mystery, not to repeat the chaos caused. Pleased, Robert gifted him the gemstone as a token of trust and gratitude.
With sunrise, Cedrick stepped outside and saw that the fear-stricken town's aura had changed. The Mansion was no longer the fear-striking structure at the end of Laurel Street. As Cedrick strolled down the street, he realized he hadn’t merely solved a mystery of a Mansion. He had saved his new home town from a timeless loop of fear and mystery. His story, a cherished folklore, remained in Cedar Vista and echoes of his adventure through time, resounding on Laurel Street forever.
