One day, the tranquillity of the village shattered as a contagious epidemic infiltrated the boundaries spreading fear among the residents. Its quick, deadly grasp had already devoured half of the village before the terror grew into realization. The only hope left for the villagers was Ewald's healing jewelry.
While Ewald did all he could to save the village, he fell sick. The epidemic succeeded in infiltrating his robust immunity, and the village slipped into deeper dread. The more frail Ewald became, the further the hopes faded, leaving a bitter taste of impending doom.
Just when all seemed lost, a stranger appeared in the village. He was an old, wizened man named Eldred, who claimed to be an alchemist from a far-off land. Eldred offered his assistance in exchange for Ewald's method of creating the healing jewelry. The dying blacksmith, seeing no other option to save his village, agreed.
