Eris: Child of Argentum
In a time far removed from our own, nestled upon the edge of civilised space, was a lonely planet called Argentum. Used by the spacefaring factions as a prison for the universe's most notorious fugitives, Argentum was as barren and desolate as its inhabitants were isolated and forgotten.
On this forsaken planet, there was born a child unlike any other. Named Eris by the inmates who raised her, she was neither a prisoner nor a guard but a child of the cosmos, with a destiny greater than the confines of her birthplace. Yet, her existence remained a mystery. How was a child conceived and born in a male-targeted prison?
None of the prisoners claimed to know. Her earliest memories consisted only of rusted bars, harsh neon lights, and the tattooed faces of dejected men who watched her with a strange mix of paternal affection and remorse. The concept of family, freedom, and even femininity were alien to her, abstract tales spun by hardened criminals.
While they had turned to cosmic piracy and interstellar smuggling in their past lives, these men became her caretakers and teachers. One of them, a former space mercenary named Krohn, took a particular interest in the young girl, teaching her reading, writing, and combat skills they both knew she'd need in the brutal world of Argentum.
Growing up, Eris developed a unique ability to see what others couldn't; the energy connections that bound all life together. With no explanation for this skill except that it was a gift from the cosmos, she harnessed it, used it to navigate her way through conflicts, mentally disarm her potential threats, or often to heal minor injuries.
Her eighteenth birthday marked the arrival of a group of corrupt Universal Federation Soldiers onto Argentum. They brought a prisoner, called Vesper, a radical who championed the plight of the marginalised. Vesper was charismatic, intelligent, and he recognised Eris’s potential immediately.
Vesper took Eris under his wing, fostering her gifts, and nurturing her mind. With his guidance, Eris led an insurrection, freeing Argentum from its captors, and rallied the ex-prisoners to join Vesper's revolutionary cause. Emboldened, Eris stood at the helm of a faction that sought to create equality in a divided universe.
However, this triumphant picture was marred when Vesper was captured by the Federation soldiers during a crucial mission, leaving Eris alone to lead their ragtag forces. Despite her pain, she held fast, leading daring assaults on key Federation installations to curb their oppressive regime.
Eris’s exploits reached every corner of the cosmos, becoming a beacon of hope for the oppressed and a symbol of resistance. However, she remained incomplete, unable to shake off the loss of Vesper. Determined to save him, Eris embarked on a rescue mission, her crew and the hopes of thousands on her shoulders.
Breaking into the Federation's stronghold, she used her unique powers to disarm guards, slip past defence systems, and navigate through the labyrinthine facility to Vesper’s cell. Their reunion was cut short when they were discovered, and a fierce battle ensued.
Eris defended Vesper, her abilities amplified by her fury and desperation. With Vesper dealt free, their mission turned into a frantic escape, chased by countless soldiers. But in the end, with a relieved sigh of relief, they made it back to their ship, returning to their followers as triumphant heroes.
From that day forward, Eris resumed her fight against injustice, but now with Vesper by her side and united under their shared vision for a free universe for all species. The girl born on a prison planet was no more; instead, she was every bit the force of resistance her name had come to symbolise across the cosmos.
