Emerald of Eternity

In the ancient times, a small kingdom lay tucked away within the wild mountains of Himalayas, known as Shangri-la. People lived in harmony and their main possession was an ethereal glowing emerald known as the 'Emerald of Eternity'.
The story begins with the birth of a young, agile boy named Kalen in the royal family, son of King Alamar. Kalen, unlike other children, bore striking emerald green eyes, like the emerald that shimmered around the royal neck. The Kingdom people saw this as a divine sign that deemed Kalen to be the guardian of the Emerald of Eternity.
Years passed and Kalen grew into a vibrant, courageous, and intelligent young man. The King handed the emerald to Kalen on his eighteenth birthday, passing on the baton of responsibility to protect the gem that held the Kingdom's prosperity. The emerald began reflecting a certain enigmatic aura that resonated with Kalen’s spirit, and they became inseparable.
However, news of the emerald had reached the greedy ears of Kharim, a nefarious wizard from the neighboring kingdom. He desired the potent power that the emerald comprised, for it believed to grant immortality if united with the Crescent moon on a lunar eclipse, a rare cosmic event awaited in just a lunar cycle. Kharim, known for his spite and cruelty, intrigued by the emerald's potential, conspired to steal the gem.
Under the disguise of a noble trader, Kharim entered Shangri-La, seeking an audience with King Alamar. He offered exquisite gifts, charmed the court with flattering words, and won the King's confidence to stay until the upcoming grand lunar eclipse ceremony. Although the kingdom was brimming with excitement for the grand event, Kalen sensed the trader's unsettling aura, and his emerald eyes mirrored a strange restlessness.
As the day of the lunar eclipse neared, the kingdom was adorned with vibrant flags and lanterns, and muted excitement filled the air. The wizard seized the moment, and in the moonlight, manipulated his dark magic, creating a confusing potion which made the guards lose consciousness. Swiftly, he reached the throne room, and with a wave of his dark wand he encased Kalen in a cocoon of enchanted chains.
When Kalen woke, he found himself in the wizard's dark room with the Emerald gleaming around his neck. Kharim, with a sinister smile, seized the Emerald and began the moon-union spell. However, rejecting the cruel wizard, the Emerald glowed ablaze, and sought its true protector, Kalen.
Ignoring the searing chains, Kalen leaped toward the gem, snatching it away from the wizard’s grasp. Holding the gem high, he pleaded the celestial bodies to protect his kingdom. Right at the lap of the lunar eclipse, the sky echoed a thunderous roar, and the searing chains shattered. The energies of the universe converged within the Emerald, creating such an intense light that darkened every corner of Shangri-La.
Kharim, unable to withstand the celestial aura, fell unconscious, while Kalen stood tall, bathed in cosmic brilliance. The Emerald of Eternity returned to its guardian, and the kingdom was shielded from any malevolent power. The lunar eclipse ended, leaving behind a sky full of brilliant stars and a kingdom celebrating their young protector.
Kalen's bravery and loyalty reverberated throughout Shangri-La. King Alamar knighted him the guardian of the Emerald till eternity, cementing his exceptional role in the kingdom's history.
Decades passed, and the tale of Kalen, Kharim, and the Emerald of Eternity became a lore, passed from generation to generation, reminding every Shangri-La child of loyalty, courage, and their young hero. From then on, the immense mountains echoed, 'In the darkest hour, let the pure heart guide you'.
