Elden's Tale: The Beast of Trellis
There was once a humble town on the edge of a dense forest, known as Trellis. Its people were famous for their simplicity, and their respect and love for nature were unrivaled. However, the peaceful harmony was disturbed when they heard the rumor of a monstrous beast prowling their woods.
Among the villagers, an old man named Elden was highly admired for his wisdom and bravery. He had lived in Trellis since birth and was a repository of folklore and stories about creatures hidden deep within the forest. But his lores about the enormous beast were brushed aside as mere fantasy, until now.
Elden proposed a plan, stressing that they must act fast. He gathered a group of young, brave villagers, among them his grandson, Loras, who were skilled in hunting and were able to defend the village from the beast.
Armed with weapons and fueled by courage, they ventured into the thick woods. The deeper they went, the gloomier it became. Soon, they reached a part of the forest, famous in Elden's lore – The Whispering Glade – known for its whispering winds and peculiar tree formations. The evening fog began to set, and eerie sounds echoed through the glade, raising the tension among the group.
Suddenly, a monstrous roar echoed through the silent woods, chilling the hunters to their bones. The source of the sound rushed through the dark woods towards them, it was the beast, as massive as Elden's stories described, its fiery eyes glowing in the darkness.
A fierce battle ensued, with arrows flying and swords clashing against the hard scales of the beast. The young warriors were brave but lacked experience in fighting such a creature. Soon, they found their numbers dwindling. Ser Rodrick, a trusted friend of Loras, succumbed to the beast's fierce attack, instilling fear into the hearts of the remaining men. Sensing their falling morale, Elden rallied his troops, fighting fearlessly even in the face of certain defeat.
Amid chaos and terror, Loras noticed the beast had a distinct pattern. It attacked fiercely but protected its underbelly cautiously. Remembering his Grandpa’s stories about every creature having a vulnerability, Loras rushed forth, evading the beast's ferocious attacks, and plunged his sword into its unprotected underbelly.
A wretched roar echoed through the forest, and the enormous beast collapsed, shaking the ground beneath them. The hunters cheered, their voices echoing through the forest. Loras had defeated the beast that had haunted their lives, and the old tales proclaimed by Elden were validated.
The brave hunters carried Loras and their fallen brethren back to Trellis, where everyone hailed their bravery. Elden was brought forth, drowned in the applause of his town, proud of his grandson who had proven his tales right.
The tale of Trellis and its beast spread far and wide, reminding every listener of the power of courage, the wisdom of Elden, and the bravery of Loras. Despite being a small town hidden away on the edges of the province, Trellis found itself a place on the map of the kingdom, revered for its heroes.
Elden’s stories were no longer just bedtime tales; they had become a way of life, a source of courage for the people of Trellis. Every hushed whisper in the woods was no longer fear but a reminder of the bravery of their own people. From then on, the people of Trellis never feared to venture into the forest. They knew they had, amidst them, valiant warriors like Loras and the wise Elden, who would protect them from any objects of their deepest fear.
