Edith and The Dragon
Once upon a time, in the quaint little town of Falmouth, there lived a young woman named Edith. Edith was unlike any other resident of Falmouth. She had an unusual gift: she could communicate with birds. From the smallest Sparrows to the majestic Eagles, Edith understood their language and could converse fluently.
Edith lived with her grandmother at the edge of Falmouth, in a house surrounded by dense woods. Her parents had died when she was young, leaving her in the care of her grandmother, who was wise and loved her deeply.
Edith’s gift remained a secret until her eighth birthday. That day, when a Raven was attacking the town’s livestock, it was Edith who saved the day. The townsfolk were amazed when they saw her calmly talk the Raven into stopping its attack. Since then, her unusual gift was revealed to all of Falmouth.
One day, a bird named Robin relayed a message to Edith from another part of the continent, called Felmon. The bird told her about a fearsome dragon that was threatening to destroy Felmon. The dragon was causing chaos, emitting smoke and fire, threatening to turn the lush green city into ashes.
Edith, determined to help, embarked on a long and dangerous journey to Felmon, guided by a flock of Pigeons. During her journey, she faced many hardships. She was confronted by a band of thieves in the dark woods, had to cross a turbulent river, and almost lost her way in a desert. Yet, her bird friends always came to her aid, and they inspired her to keep moving.
Upon arriving in Felmon, the sight of the looming dragon made Edith tremble in fear, but she knew she had to be brave. With her heart pounding in her chest, she approached the dragon.
The dragon growled ferociously, belching fire into the bright sky, but Edith stood her ground. She uttered some gentle words to the dragon. To her surprise, and everyone else's, the dragon calmed down.
Then began an unusual dialogue between the girl and the dragon. Edith discovered the dragon was lost, separated from his family, and was unleashing his fury out of despair. Moved by his plight, Edith promised to help him find his family.
Back home in Falmouth, Edith spent days planning and mapping the return of the dragon to his home, with the help of her bird friends. She asked the eagles to scout from above and the sparrows to spread the word among other birds across the continent.
One day, an eagle returned with news that the dragon's family was found. With directions from her feathered friends, Edith guided the dragon back to his home.
The reunion of the dragon family was an emotional sight. The dragon and his family thanked Edith and swore never to harm humans again. They even used their fiery breath to build her a chariot of gold as a gesture of gratitude, which Edith rode back to Falmouth.
Upon her return, Edith was hailed a hero. She saved not just Falmouth but also Felmon, earning the respect and admiration of both cities. Her interaction with a mythical creature like the dragon expanded her abilities. She was not only the friend of the birds, but also the friend of all creatures big and small.
Edith spent the remainder of her days in Falmouth, living happily with her grandma, being Edith, the girl who could talk to birds, and much more.
