Destiny's Song

Emerald green tendrils whipped back and forth, swaying to the rhythms of the ocean beneath. The twisty kelp forest was home to Felidae, a siren gifted with the most enchanting voice anyone in the seven seas could ever fathom. Yet, her ethereal beauty wasn't the heart of our tale but her longing for a miraculous acquisition: a soul.
Felidae was born into a prideful siren family, their song known to lure many unfortunate seafarers. Yet, her heart wailed a tune of discomfort at every ship's wreckage. She'd heard tales of mortality, a trait unique to humans with the prize of possessing a soul. And, she desired for one, in truth, than to continue her life dragging innocents to their watery graves.
One day, a young sailor named Cole drifted against the currents to the periphery of the siren territory. Unlike many before, Cole held no fear for the bewitching creatures; after all, word of their songs had lured him here. Finding Felidae alone, he asked for a song, to which, moved by his audacity, she complied. But, instead of entrancing him towards a watery grave, her song told stories of her longing for a soul.
Struck by the siren's plea, Cole offered to help. According to him, a witch dwelt in a land not far who possessed the power to grant the siren her wish. Hence, Felidae agreed to this adventure, leaving her home and family behind for a mortal's tale.
The duo faced many trials on their journey, battling sea monsters, braving terrible storms, and crossing vast uncharted waters. However, each hardship only brought them closer, their friendship becoming the beacon that pushed back against the surrounding darkness. As days turned into weeks and weeks to months, a bond stronger than camaraderie surfaced, albeit unrecognized by both.
Finally, after what had felt like many lifetimes, they reached the witch's land. The witch, a crooked creature, demanded a high price for her services, a price that both were apprehensive to pay but eventually conceded. The witch then performed her ritual, and with a final scream from Felidae, it was done. The siren, now possessing a soul, stood on trembling legs, shell-shocked at the transformation and the influx of unfamiliar emotions.
However, their triumph was short-lived as, in exchange for the soul, the witch had exacted Felidae's voice. The beautiful melody that once flowed through her was gone, lost to the eerie silence of her soul. At that moment, Cole realized what had unconsciously grown in his heart; it was love, coaxed into existence by her expressive voice.
The journey back was silent, filled with a thick fog of disappointment and regret. Once they reached the outskirts of the siren territory, Felidae, with a final look, dove into the ocean's depths. But as she submerged, Cole took a bold decision. He let go of his heart's reins, diving right after her with a confession: he loved her.
A shocked Felidae found her voice returning; not the enchanting siren's melody but a mortal's voice filled with emotions. She realized that a soul was not a mere object to be bestowed upon but a manifestation of love, kindness, and connection. As they surfaced, gasping for breath amid laughter and tears, Felidae found her voice - different, yet more beautiful.
The tale of Felidae, the siren who found her soul, swept through the seven seas, a testimony to love and sacrifice. And though her song had changed, it was more alluring than ever, now sung with a soul's warmth, filling the deep ocean with a melody of love, hope, and eternal kinship.
