Cora: The White Crow of Hyde
Once upon a time in the heart of the city of Hyde, well-known for its bustling pathways and towering skyscrapers, there thrived a colony of crows, clever and cunning. Amidst the chirpy crows lived an odd one named Cora.
Cora was unlike her kin. She was unusually white, because of a genetic mutation, and her feather sparkling in daylight gave her an ethereal look. She was seen as strange among her kind and was often ignored and shunned. However, Cora was a gentle soul with a heart full of hope. She didn’t let the common crows darken her sparkle; instead, she used her uniqueness to help them.
Cora was bestowed with a glimmering voice. Unlike the usual harsh caw of her kind, Cora could mimic the sounds of the city exactly. From the sirens of the fire truck, the police car's noises, the ring of schooltime bells to children's laughter, Cora could mimic everything.
Cora never bothered about her oddity and lived her life merrily high up on a skyscraper. She would observe the city constantly. One day, a loud noise resounded through the city of Hyde. With her keen observation, Cora observed it was a bank robbery from the stream of people running out and chaos followed.
Without wasting a moment, Cora flew over and mimicked the sound of a police siren close to the bank. The robbers startled and confused, halted briefly giving enough time for the actual police whom Cora had alerted, to nab them off guard. Thus, Cora saved the day, and for the first time, she was noticed and appreciated for her uniqueness.
In days that followed, Cora became the ‘Hero Crow’ of Hyde. She helped in averting many mishaps by mimicking different sounds at the right moment. She stopped a train from colliding with another by imitating the warning siren, alerted a sleeping family of a fire in their house by mimicking the fire alarm. Soon, the people of Hyde concluded that whenever the white crow made a sound, it was an alert of some sort.
Cora helped Hyde City become a safer place with her alertness and mimicry. Her actions left a deep mark in everyone's heart, and they started treating her with kindness, feeding her with love, and celebrating her presence. The crows, once who shunned her, became proud of her. She was celebrated as an honorary citizen of Hyde, an honour that was previously reserved only for humans.
Cora proved that uniqueness is not a curse but a blessing. The differences that make us stand out can also make us impactful. Her serenading siren became a part of the echo of Hyde, and the once rejected white crow became the pride of the city.
As the tale of Cora, the white crow spread, every inhabitant of Hyde City learned a significant lesson from this unusual hero. They understood that one should never underestimate someone’s potential based on their appearance or their differences. Everyone has their own unique skills and capabilities which can make a huge difference when used at the right time and place. As for Cora, she continued to live her life at the same old skyscraper, all the more content, the melody of her mimicry bringing about harmony in the city's chaos.
