Chronos Eternus: A Timeless Journey

Almost a hundred years from today, the universe had seen enormous growth in humanity. There was a researcher named Dr. Gregory, who came up with an idea of living longer without getting old.
The planet he lived on, Ortus, was not like before. Ortus was rich with technological advancements thought unreal in the early 21st century. The most remarkable progression was in Biogenetics. The dream of becoming immortal was no longer a dream for the Ortusans.
Dr. Gregory was already a renowned scientist for his contributions to genetics, but his insatiable desire to explore the unthinkable was unmatchable. With a substantial grant from the Ortus government, Dr. Gregory had one last mountain to climb. He wanted to discover the secret of eternal youth.
The project was named 'Chronos Eternus', a project aiming to halt the biological aging process. Working day and night, he learned the sophisticated method of manipulation in human genes, which would cease the aging procedure. The formula that he invented, he named 'Aeternum.'
Five years passed straight, and no recognized progress was recorded. The government was about to shut the program down, but Dr. Gregory asked for a final chance. Not wanting to let years of efforts go in vain, they agreed. That's when he made a significant decision. He decided to test the Aeternum formula on himself.
Miraculously, he didn’t age. Weeks passed by, then months, then years, and Dr. Gregory looked exactly the same as before.
Meanwhile, the world watched in awe and anticipation. The government was facing political pressure, as people were eager to get access to Aeternum. But the council knew they had to tread carefully. The world wasn't ready yet for immortality; they were struggling with resource allocation as it was.
Years turned to decades and then a century. Dr. Gregory was exactly the same, but the world around him changed. It took a century for the world to adapt to the idea of immortality. However, it came with a significant condition - to become immortal, one must choose to not have children.
The transformation took place over generations. Like many others, Dr. Gregory saw the world change before his very eyes. The aging population was a minority, and the planet turned into a place primarily run by ‘Aeternum citizens. His invention had changed life as it was known.
However, as the time passed, Dr. Gregory started to mourn the loss of his very own mortality. Every single emotion, every small joy, and every tiny grief that humanity cherishes, he missed all.
He wouldn’t enjoy the cherry blossoms the way he used to, because he knew they’d always be there. There was no rush of adrenaline. There was no fear of missing out. He missed waiting for things that were worth waiting for, something as simple as waiting for his favorite seasons to revisit.
In conclusion, he eventually learned - the meaning of life is not to live forever, but to create something that will. He realized that his goal was not to become timeless but to create a time that everyone would remember.
With passing years, his knowledge has brought both boon and pain to humanity. But it was his optimism and wisdom that pushed him forward. Dr. Gregory’s story is not only a story of scientific marvel but also a tale that questions the essence of life itself.
