Charles and the Mystical Mirror

In a remote village lived a young boy named Charles. Charles was unlike any other boy in his village; he had a burning curiosity, and an insatiable appetite for learning. The villagers found his eccentricities peculiar, but they cherished him nonetheless.
One day, an old man from unknown lands appeared in the village. He was a peddler, selling all manner of strange objects. Charles was enthralled by the foreign items up for sale and made a beeline for the peddler's stall. His eyes wandered over the assorted objects until they fell on an ancient looking mirror, with a gleaming surface that seemed to shimmer under the sunlight.
Strangely drawn to it, Charles bought the mirror using his savings. The old peddler looked at him with a calculating expression and handed over the item, warning, 'It's no ordinary mirror, boy. Possesses a magic unknown to this world. Be careful how you use it.'
Charles rushed home, the mirror clutched tightly in his hands. He hung it on the wall and just as he was about to catch a glimpse of his reflection, a blinding light shot from the mirror.
When Charles opened his eyes, he found himself in an alternate reality. His quaint village was replaced by a buzzing metropolis with towering skyscrapers and advanced automobiles. Bewildered, Charles wandered the unfamiliar cityscape and soon realized that he wasn't in the 21st century anymore, the mirror had transported him to the future.
In this new world, Charles learned of incredible technological advancements that had solved many of the challenges faced by his original world; there was a cure for cancer, technology that reversed pollution, even a machine that could convert thoughts into written words. It was unlike anything Charles could have dreamt of.
He managed to convince a tech giant to send back some of the advancements to his time using a Time-Transporter. Charles returned to his village intending to share this knowledge and bring about a new era of prosperity. However, as he reached home, he noticed something was off. His village was no more a remote town; it was now overwhelmed with the destructive side of technology. The green fields were replaced with factories billowing smoke and the clear stream was murky with industrial waste.
Charles was crushed, realising that his well-intentioned actions caused more harm than good, he took a solemn pledge to fix his village. He gathered all the advanced technology that could reverse the environmental damage and spent days and nights tirelessly working towards restoring his village.
Gradually, the once polluted stream ran clear and the green fields sprawled lushly under the open skies again. The villagers, witnessing Charles' relentless efforts and their subsequent results, pledged to keep their environment clean and to use technology responsibly.
Charles had learned an invaluable lesson, that progression without responsibility can lead to destruction. He ironically used the mirror again, this time, to go to the past to prevent his younger self from using the mirror.
In the end, Charles was back in his village, breathing in the fresh air, a soft smile on his face as he tucked the mirror away, ensuring it would never surface again. The villagers hailed him as a hero, a savior. But, to Charles, he was just a boy who had learned his lesson the hard way.
