Bronty, The Gentle Giant of Erie
Once, in the city of Erie, lived a gentle giant named Bronty who was always misunderstood. He was abnormally large compared to the city's inhabitants, and his immense stature terrified many. None-the-less, he had a heart of gold. This is the story of how Bronty, the Gentle Giant, saved Erie city.
Bronty's days were lonesome. He was a giant in a city for people. His days were spent in the mountains overlooking the city, carving little statues out of stone. Besides sculpting, Bronty had a soft spot for flowers and, despite his colossal size, took meticulous care of his flower patch. His lonely existence was void of any companionship as the fear-stricken residents of Erie kept their distance from him.
It was during one such ordinary day that Bronty heard a rumbling, causing his mountain dwelling to shake. Unknown to the peaceful town of Erie, a great peril had risen from the depths of the earth. A Fierce Dragon had awoken from its centuries-long slumber, irritated, hungry, and looking for havoc to wreak. The city of Erie was in its path.
Now, Bronty had heard tales of old about the ferocious dragons that roamed the earth. He was initially gripped by fear, but the sight of Erie in the path of destruction evoked a defiant spirit within him.
He approached the fiery beast, mustering all the courage he possessed. The Dragon, stupefied by Bronty's audacity, shifted his aim from the town to the approaching monolith. The inevitable clash of the titans was imminent, and to the townsfolk's dismay, they could do nothing but watch in terrifying awe.
Bronty armed himself with a tree trunk turned makeshift club, the only object he could find that complemented his size. With thunderous roars echoing across the valley, the battle began. The Dragon breathed fire in rounds, but each time Bronty dodged and defended with his crude weapon.
Bronty found an opening when the Dragon was catching its breath. He took the opportunity and swung the tree with all his might. Caught off guard, the Dragon was hit squarely in the chest and was rendered defenseless. Summoning his final bout of strength, Bronty trapped the injured beast underneath the sturdiest mountain rock. Defeated and helpless, the Dragon conceded and begged for mercy.
Merciful Bronty, decided to let the dragon go with a promise never to harm anyone again. The dragon, humbled by the act of kindness, gratefully accepted the proposition, thanked Bronty and disappeared into the deep chasms from where it had arisen.
As dawn broke over the city, the townsfolk saw the gentle giant, bruised and battered, yet standing tall over the defeated foe. Their fear was replaced with gratitude and respect. The townsfolk treated his wounds, offered him the warmest place to rest, and for the first time, Bronty didn't feel like a misfit. After this incident, Bronty was blessed with love from every home in the city.
Thus ends the tale of the gentle giant, a friend not just to the people of Erie but to every creature big or small. A story of courage and kindness inspiring us that the misunderstood may want nothing more than a chance to do some good.
