Awake in the Dream
Once upon a time, in a realm not confined by the laws of time or space, existed an ethereal land, a hallucination painted by reality known as Dreamland. Here, dreams danced before one's eyes as you tread the soft, fluffy clouds underfoot. This was the domain of Alaric, an enigmatic being who could manipulate dreams and, to an extent, the fate of the human race.
Alaric had been since the beginning of time, gently weaving dreams into the minds of sleepers. He carried out his duty diligently, without interfering in the mortal world. But as centuries passed, he grew weary of his endless duty. One night, his eyes fell upon a young maiden named Beatrice. She entreated for pleasant dreams each night, a plea that throbbed with utmost sincerity. Strangely moved, Alaric chose to appear in her dreams as a human, a decision that sparked the tale of a unique romance.
Their dreamscape rendezvous felt ethereal. Beatrice adored this stranger who spun tales of worlds beyond her imagination. Meanwhile, Alaric was captivated by her compassion and love for the world. Their bond grew deep, yet Alaric bore the burden of a secret – his true identity. Torn between his duty and love, he made the painful decision to reveal his truth to Beatrice.
In her dream, he confessed, 'I am Alaric, the Dreamweaver. These dreams are not mere fantastical illusions but snatches of a world beyond human comprehension.' Beatrice was shocked, yet her trust in her mysterious companion didn't falter.
Despite this revelation, their bond strengthened. Alaric, infatuated with the world of humans through Beatrice, made a drastic decision. He appealed to the Supreme Deities for a chance to become human. Seeing his earnest desires, they granted his wish, but with one condition – he would retain his memory, and upon his death, he would return to his original duty.
So Alaric started his life as a mortal, united with Beatrice. Their love story was a tale told through generations. They experienced joy, sorrow, passion, pain, mortal and immortal burdens in this transient life. Beatrice's passing was the hardest chapter in their story, but Alaric carried on, bearing the wisdom he cherished from their love.
Alaric lived the human life optioned by the wheel of fate. He was once an obscure writer whose tales touched millions, a healer who extended help and hope, a soldier defending his homeland, and a wise old man who shared stories about a dreamweaver. But always, he returned to Beatrice's grave, reminiscing their moments and stringing them into the melody of his life.
As the last rays of his mortal life dissolved into the horizon, Alaric smiled, ready to return to his lonesome duty. But to his surprise, he was not alone. Beatrice, graced with eternal life by the Deities for sharing a dreamweaver's curse, awaited him in the dream realm.
Thus, Alaric was no longer the lonely dreamweaver. Now he had Beatrice accompanying him through eternity. They lived forever in the realm of dreams, spinning soothing dreams for the sleepers below, weaving stories of their own that echoed throughout the tapestry of time.
'So, if you dream a dream of warmth and contentment, know this - it's the legacy of a timeless love story spun by two immortal dreamweavers watching over you.', he concluded to the crowd. His eyes twinkled under the starlit sky as the world slept, oblivious of the two guardians working tirelessly to uphold the charm of dreams.
