Aphelion's Echo

Once upon a time, there was a verdant and vital planet, known as Aphelion. It was a haven for all creatures great and small, marked by serene green hills, deep black oceans, and an azure sky painted with silver wisps. The inhabitants of this planet were called the Eons, humanoid beings but possessing the power of telepathy and foresight.
There occurred an event which altered the course of the Eon civilization forever – the arrival of a celestial body, a comet named Echo. From ancient prophecies, the Eons knew that Echo held untapped cosmic energies capable of enhancing their inherent abilities – or consuming them in its mighty power.
The Eon council decided to form a group of their wisest seers and strongest warriors. They were tasked to tame the mighty Echo and harness its power for the benefit of all. Among them, the most revered was a young Eon- Lyra.
Lyra had a unique ability, she could see possible futures and thus was revered as the guiding star of her people. But her visions about the Echo were unclear and ominous.
As the comet drew nearer, changes swept through Aphelion. The once azure skies turned a hazy crimson, and the black oceans began to glow with a strange iridescence. The planet was reacting to Echo's potent energy.
Venturing into steep mountainous terrains, the group found the Echo's estimated landing spot. Lyra’s heart trembled looking at the nebulous patterns in the pulsating, radiant comet overhead.
As the comet hurtled closer, the ground under the Eons shook. The Echo pierced the atmosphere, enveloping the land in a blinding gestalt of colors and swirls. Swallowed in an aura of surreal calm, the Eons felt their telepathic abilities amplified a thousand fold.
Lyra, the seer, suddenly collapsed, convulsing, her mind flooded with a torrent of visions. Images of Eons disintegrated, Aphelion a barren, burning husk flashed across her mind. It was the Echo devouring, not empowering.
Emerging from her trance-like state, she beseeched the council to abandon their efforts, warning of the impending disaster. Amid the confusion and chaos, a faction resulted, disillusioned Eons who backed Lyra and those who vehemently held on to their belief in the Echo's benign power.
The comet landed, and the Echo's colossal energies undulated across the lands. The Eons close to the comet were deformed rather than empowered—the comet began devouring them.
The remaining Eons, torn by the horror and desperate, turned to Lyra. She devised a plan, pouring through ancient texts. They needed to create a harmonic frequency that would tame the Echo. But it needed an Eon capable of summoning an incredible amount of telepathic energy.
Lyra became the beacon. As the surviving Eons channeled their energy into her, she connected with Echo. It was turmoil and chaos within, the clash between infinite power and a desperate plea for harmony.
Finally, the Echo succumbed. It receded, its unstable energies dim and quenched. Aphelion was silent, its people changed forever.
Success came at the cost of Lyra's life. The strain of energy shattered her, leaving the Eons mourning. She was mourned as Aphelion’s saviour, etching her story in the pages of Eons’ history forever.
Echo now resides deep within Aphelion’s core, its tremendous energy serving as a source of power for the Eons. The haunted prophecy turned out to be a tale of sacrifice, endurance and victory. Aphelion still revolves solemnly in the cosmos, echoing the bravery and selflessness of its greatest seer – Lyra.
