Alfred's Cherry Pie
Once upon a time, in the sleepy town of Cheddington, England, lived a baker named Alfred. He was well-known for his unmatched skill in baking divine bread and delicious pastries. However, the most-prized product of his bakery was a rare kind of pie, his secret cherry pie.
Every week, Alfred baked only one cherry pie and it was always purchased by the same customer, a wealthy and mysterious woman named Ms. Sofia. Sofia visited Cheddington every week from the bustling city of London just to buy Alfred's cherry pie. This had been their routine for several years, and Alfred felt a strange bond of friendship blossoming between him and this particular customer.
One late summer day, Alfred had baked his special pie, and as usual, he expected Sofia to come and buy it. But she did not arrive that day. Alfred felt a twinge of worry, but he brushed it off thinking she might have been held up by something urgent.
However, when Sofia did not show up for the next few weeks, Alfred decided to investigate. He knew very little about Sofia, except that she lived in London. With only this information, he started his journey to the bustling city.
In London, Alfred asked around, showing Sofia's picture, which he had taken one day when she visited his bakery. For days, he found no trace of her, until he met a homeless man named Charlie.
Charlie recognized Sofia and directed Alfred to a mansion that lay secluded at the outskirts of London. With fear and anticipation making his heart heavy, Alfred reached the mansion only to find it deserted.
Just when he was about to turn around and leave, an old man from a neighboring house told him that Sofia was ill and had been admitted to a hospital in the city.
Alfred rushed to the hospital only to discover that Sofia was terminally ill and had not much time left. He sat beside Sofia, holding her hand and reminiscence their time together. She had one wish left, she wanted to taste Alfred's cherry pie, one last time. This request, though heart-wrenching, gave Alfred joy to be able to do something for his friend in her last days.
Returning to Cheddington, Alfred baked the cherry pie with all his heart and soul and brought it back to Sofia. Having fulfilled her last wish, Sofia departed peacefully a few days later, leaving Alfred with a heart both heavy and content.
Following Sofia's death, Alfred made a significant change in his bakery. He started baking his special cherry pie every day, not just once a week. He wished to share the pie, which had brought so much joy to Sofia, with everyone. Alfred's Cherry Pie soon became the talk of the town, attracting customers from far and wide. Eventually, the sleepy town of Cheddington became renowned for its cherry pie, and Alfred always remembered his friend Sofia for making it all happen.
