Aiden and the Marvelous Mistake

Protagonist and hero of our story is Aiden - a clumsy child with high dreams, nerd glasses, roughed-up converse, and a backpack full of books. The title of the story is 'Aiden and the Marvelous Mistake'.
Aiden was an average kid like most with one very distinct peculiarity - an unquenchable thirst for science experiments and building machines. This had earned him a nickname - 'Professor Specs'. As you would expect, his best friends weren't kids but books full of complex equations, engineering blueprints, and scientific theories.
One day, while engrossed in his readings, Aiden stumbled upon a theory on time-travel. As absurd as the theory sounded, Aiden felt himself drawn to it. His curiosity got the better of him, and he started designing a time-travel watch affectionately christened as 'Temporal Twister'. The watch contained magnificent twists of copper wire, intricate circuits, and a tiny dial manipulated by big ambitions.
Day and night, Aiden worked tirelessly, tweaking and twisting until the prototype was as perfect as it could be. After weeks of creative upheaval, the Temporal Twister came into being. Overwhelmed by a sense of accomplishment, he excitedly decided to test his creation.
Aiden turned the small dial, his heartbeat resonating with the low hum of the Twister. Time seemed to stop for a second, and before he could comprehend, he was standing in a different era. All around him were iron-clad machines billowing up smoke, men in hats and vests, horse-drawn carriages - the 19th century.
Aiden, the inadvertent time-traveler was fascinated and at the same time paranoid. He made careful observations, scribbled notes, and returned to his time promptly, chuckling with delight on his triumph. His machine had worked; he had become the first-ever time traveler!
However, with great power comes great responsibility. Likewise, messing with time brought unforeseen consequences. Post the incident, things began changing, subtly at first and then explicitly. Aiden’s room had obsolete furniture, his parents spoke in an old-world accent. His school was no longer a modern infrastructure but appeared more classy, stuck in the Victoria era.
Aiden became alarmed with these alterations. He realized that time-travel was fraught with dangers impacting not merely him, but the fabric of time itself. Deciding to fix things, Aiden ventured into the past again. This time, he did nothing; just ensured that he wasn't messing with anything or anyone. Upon his return, all seemed as it should be.
Aiden learnt a valuable lesson of resisting the temptation of meddling with things beyond comprehension. The Temporal Twister henceforth was used solely for observation and education. His initial marvel and thrill of exploration were replaced with a mature understanding of time-travel's implications.
The story of 'Professor Specs', as he was still lovingly called, became a classic narration among his friends and family. Aiden, the time-traveler, however, was different. He was no longer just the nerdy kid but an explorer who knew his limits. A story that began as a wild pursuit of the impossible ended with a grounding lesson about the great power responsibility. Aiden had indeed made a marvelous mistake but, more importantly, learnt even more marvelous lessons.
