Across The Universe
There once was a town where everyone was concerned with only one thing - the stars. They believed in their hearts that a star was born each time a person came into this world and when their lives ended, so did their star.
The people of this town were more interested in stargazing than anything else. They spent their nights with telescopes and their days analyzing the constellations. The town had its astronomer, an old man named Eli who had been observing the universe for as long as he could remember. He was respected by everyone and his word was considered to be the law.
One day, a new star appeared in the sky. It was brighter and bigger than the rest. Eli spent countless nights studying it, but he couldn't decipher its purpose. The town was in turmoil because there were no recent births or deaths. They looked up to Eli for guidance.
Shaken by the turn of events, Eli decided to consult a wise woman named Hester, who lived on the outskirts of the town. Hester was known for her prophetic visions and had often guided the townsfolk in times of uncertainty. After listening to Eli's dilemma, Hester went into a trance for a moment, and then responded, 'The universe is signaling a monumental change.”
Bewildered, Eli asked, 'What change could it be?' Hester gently replied, 'Someone is coming to our town, a stranger who will turn our world upside-down.' A great shiver went down Eli's spine. He thanked Hester and returned to his observation tower.
Days turned into weeks, but there were no signs of any newcomers. Doubt started creeping in Eli's mind, but deep down, he couldn't ignore Hester's prophecy. And then, one day, the unexpected happened.
A spaceship landed near the town. An alien creature named Zirkon emerged, who was on a mission to understand different life forms in the universe. The townsfolk were terrified but intrigued at the same time. Zirkon was different but not hostile. He just wanted to observe, understand and learn about humans. The townsfolk decided to let Zirkon stay amongst them under Eli's supervision.
Zirkon and Eli spent countless hours together. The alien taught Eli about interstellar travel, celestial bodies and galaxies far beyond their own. Eli reciprocated, explaining terrestrial living, human emotions and the stars that they considered sacred.
As days passed, the townsfolk grew to accept Zirkon. He was a novelty at first, but soon he became a part of their community. They realized that Zirkon was the monumental change that Hester had seen in her vision.
Finally, the day came when Zirkon had to leave. The experience had been enlightening for both Eli and Zirkon. As the spaceship was about to take off, Zirkon said, 'You believe that a person's life is tied to a star. In my world, we believe that stars are the souls of our ancestors guiding us. The universe is infinite, and there is place for all beliefs. Keep gazing at the stars, Eli.' And with that, Zirkon's spaceship disappeared into the star-studded sky.
Eli continued his observations. The bright star that had emerged with the appearance of Zirkon had disappeared now. A new era had begun for the townsfolk. They understood now that their universe was a part of a much bigger and mysterious cosmos, which held innumerable beliefs and truths. The stars continued to inspire them, and their passion for stargazing remained.
In the end, they were just tiny specks in the grand scheme of things, yet each had their own star. Their own guiding light that they were born with and that whispered to them throughout their journey, fading only when it was time for them to say goodbye.
Life and the universe were beautifully intertwined, a mystery to be embraced and appreciated. The wisdom they had gathered from Zirkon renewed their resolve to understand this vast universe. And every night, they would look up at the sky, towards the stars, with unwavering fascination and humble awe. Because they knew the universe was not just overhead but also within them, resounding a symphony of celestial harmony.
