A Symphony of Stars
Our tale begins many light years away, on a bustling blue planet named Gallifrey III, inhabited by a technologically advanced civilization. Visible to them were countless celestial bodies, including a bright yellow star they worshipped called Solstaria, positioned at the heart of their galaxy.
Curious and ingenious, the Gallifreyans developed technology to teleport objects across vast cosmic distances. One bright Gallifreyan named Orion had a vision beyond his peers. Orion wanted to send a piece of their planet, a symbol of love, to Solstaria. This wasn't purely romantic, but a scientific ambition—to test a theory. He believed that if they could teleport an object light years away, they could manipulate time. Orion saw Solstaria not just as a star but as a key to unlock the mysteries of the cosmos.
The affairs of the blue planet turned slightly ominous, as Orion was successful in teleporting a Gallifreyan stone to Solstaria, but at the same moment, a supernova occurred. Solstaria’s light dimmed, and the blue planet was surrounded by darkness. The scared and devastated Gallifreyans believed their adored star’s fate was sealed due to their intrusion. They blamed Orion’s ambitious experiment for the calamity, turning him into an outcast.
Time passed and Orion's theory about manipulating time turned out to be correct. He found that the arrival of the Gallifreyan stone had created a time rift on Solstaria causing the supernova to occur 1000 years in its past. Orion felt tormented. He had the knowledge to prevent this mishap, to stop himself from sending the stone, paradoxically using the technology that started it all, but altering past events could lead to unpredictable consequences.
Driven by guilt and love for Solstaria, Orion made the ultimate sacrifice. He decided to go back in time and avert the star's premature supernova. He modified the teleporter, risking the unknown ripple effects of meddling with time. As Orion integrated himself into the teleporter, the council of Gallifrey intercepted, trying to stop him, but it was too late. Orion disappeared into a burst of light, launched into the cosmos, traveling through time and space.
Orion arrived on Gallifrey, 1000 years in the past. He knew his presence could alter the timeline, hence he kept a low profile, living a modest life. He patiently waited till the time of his experiment. The fated day came; Orion intervened, sabotaging the teleporter, leaving a cryptic note behind, and causing just enough chaos to prevent the stone from ever reaching Solstaria. He then gathered his equipment and headed towards the teleporter one last time, to return to his original timeline.
As the intense light dimmed after Orion disappeared, the past Gallifreyans were left baffled. They found the note, 'To save our Solstaria', and in reverence of the unidentified hero, they named the day 'Orion's Day'. They spent their lives discovering the cosmos, following their natural curiosity without the lust for time manipulation, thus generating an alternate history where Solstaria still shone brightly in their skies.
Back in his timeline, Orion's last sight was his beloved star, Solstaria shining brightly as the teleportation failed mid-transit, scattering his atoms across the cosmos. His sacrifice ensured Solstaria’s survival, rewritten Gallifreyan history, and paradoxically, symbolized his love for the star being spread throughout the universe. His tale became a legend on Gallifrey, an extraordinary tale of heroism, love, and sacrifice. Orion, the solitary star-traveler, became synonymous with Solstaria, a physical embodiment of their love for the star, twinkling in their night skies.
