A Promise Beneath the Rainbow
Once upon a time, in the magical ancient kingdom filled with wonders and mysteries, two friends were born, named Elara & Elden. They were not like other typical human kids; they belonged to an extraordinary race, the 'Luminary,' known for their luminous aura and magical abilities.
From their youngest days, Elara and Elden formed an inseparable bond. As the colony's children, they played in enchanting meadows, swam in sparkling rivers under the nurturing eye of the land's Elder. An inseparable duo they were, their laughter echoing across the radiant kingdom. They grew, side by side, discovering their special abilities.
Elara discovered hers at the age of five. While playing with Elden in the woods, she found a hurt bird. As she gently picked up the tiny creature, her hands started glowing with a radiant light which transfused into the bird, healing it instantly. This was her first encounter with her healing power.
Elden, on the other hand, was a boy of the winds. With a slight flick of his wrist, he could summon strong gusts of wind; he could communicate with the breeze and the storms. It was an uncommon power in the Luminary race, earning him an abundant admiration.
Their youth passed in merriment until they reached a precipice of inevitable change. For it was the Luminary tradition, when a Luminary turned sixteen, they were to venture out into the world, exploring and aiding where needed, returning only when they had a story of their own.
Elden and Elara promised each other beneath the colossal rainbow that towered over their kingdom, a symbol of perpetuity. They pledged to return each spring, meeting beneath the rainbow, cherishing their bond. Embracing this pact, they set out, kissed goodbye with weighty hearts, not knowing the paths chosen by destiny.
Elara ventured to the West, healing those who needed assistance, solidifying her promise to help. Elden journeyed towards the North, combating typhoons that needed taming, helping the desperate. Letters kept their friendship alive, their experiences creating a tapestry of remarkable tales.
Years went by, and as spring arrived, Elara waited anxiously under the rainbow, clutching the letters that spoke of Elden's adventures. Still, Elden never arrived. The season folded into summer, followed by winter, still no word, no sign of him.
Worried for her friend, breaking the pact herself, Elara decided to venture North, following Elden's last letter. She reached a small village surrounded by high mountains, protected from the volcanic eruptions by the Luminary boy. She was told Elden had tried controlling a dangerous storm brewing over the sea but never returned.
With a heavy heart, Elara journeyed toward the sea. She called out to the winds for signs of Elden, and a gust of wind came in response; it was Elden. His essence was trapped within the storm he tried to tame. Using her healing power and soothing the winds, she held onto his essence. Moments later, a figure emerged from the storm, the familiar face drenched but breathing.
They journeyed back home, to the rainbow where they made their pact. Elden apologised for not keeping his promise. Elara simply replied, 'We Luminary might make pacts under rainbows, but when it comes to friendship, some promises could stand to be broken.’
From that spring forth, they met under the rainbow not out of obligation but as friends who shared more than letters or stories but shared their vulnerabilities, their growth, their essence. Their pals' legend was whispered throughout, their bond, an emblem of the strength captured in sinful promises and shining friendships that outshone even the brightest Luminary.
