A Journey to the Forgotten Island
On the coast of the cobalt blue Pacific Ocean, in a small antiquated town of San Merino, lived a curious young lad named Elijah. He loved hearing the sailors' tales about mystical waters and unexplored islands. But one story echoed louder than the rest, that of a Forgotten Island, fabled to be located beyond the treacherous 'Bermuda Triangle of the Pacific'. No one dared to cross its waters, considering it an ominous abode of sea demons. However, this tale kindled an adventurous flame in Elijah, who sought to uncover the mysteries of this forsaken island.
One vivid day, after bidding goodbye to his aging grandmother, he embarked on a voyage, armed only with his grit and an antique compass that once belonged to his late father.
The first couple of days brought an uncanny serenity, the calm ocean waters reflecting the azure sky. But soon, implacable Tropical Cyclone 'Cassandra' unleashed chaos. Rain poured down like an uncontrollable beast loosed, waves raised high as mountain peaks, and hope seemed to be sinking. But Elijah's unflinching spirit resonated with another voice from deep within, a voice he recognized as his father's, whispering, 'Courage, son, courage conquers everything'. His hands tightened on the helm and his eyes narrowed, he was going to weather this storm.
Hours turned into a day, and finally, the torment ceased. The morning sun burgeoned the horizon, revealing a surreal view of land - the Forgotten Island.
He discovered an entire civilization, living a life detached from the world. These inhabitants had fascinating, violet eyes and silver hair, their skin glowed in an ethereal green hue. Initially, they were apprehensive of this stranger, but gradually began to trust him. Elijah, in turn, learnt their language, shared stories about the outer world, which they listened to with childlike wonder.
They too narrated tales about their ancestors who had crossed into these waters, escaping a barbaric king, they decided to remain 'forgotten' for their safety. This island was their sanctuary, shielded by the tempestuous waters acting as an unassailable fort. Through these stories, Elijah realized their fear of re-discovery. This became a predicament for him - his quest could make these people vulnerable.
After many days, it was time for him to return. Promising to safeguard their secret, Elijah left the island, bearing tokens of their friendship. His voyage home was tranquil, and when he set foot back in San Merino, he was celebrated as a hero. However, when asked about the Forgotten Island, he recalled a storm that led him astray onto another island instead.
Elijah was an adventurer, indeed, but more importantly, he was an honourable man. The Forgotten Island remained forgotten, and its people could live in peace. Nonetheless, he always carried the stories, and the mysterious glow of their friendship in his heart.
This tale of bravery, depth of character, and the spirit of adventure, present us with a facet of human nature - the desire to explore, but more than that, to protect those who cannot protect themselves.
