A Dragon's Salvation

Once upon a time, in a land filled with verdant forests, breathtaking mountains, and shimmering rivers, was a tiny, unassuming village named Lismore. Nestled amidst rolling hills, Lismore was home to a lively community of farmers and craftsmen known across the kingdom for their vitality and resilience.
Several miles away, hidden within a secluded peak named Heartspire, a dragon named Ivrizyll made his abode. Ivrizyll was an opalescent dragon with scales that radiated shades of cerulean and lavender when met with moonlight. A beast feared amongst all, whose tale was one that left listeners with bated breath. Yet, despite his unsavory reputation, Ivrizyll was a lonely creature. He yearned for a companion.
One day, while on one of his solitary flights, Ivrizyll, spotted a young maiden standing at the edge of Lismore. She had hair that shone like liquid gold under the sun and eyes that echoed the azure blues of the summer sky. Her captivating aura enthralled the dragon, and this maiden named Evangeline became the resolve of his loneliness.
Evangeline was Lismore's healer. Her touch and wise remedies had saved many lives, making her a celebrated figure among villagers. Despite the pomp, she was a solitary soul, often found daydreaming under the canopied verdure nearby.
Upon seeing her, Ivrizyll felt an inexplicable connection. He began to watch her from the shadows, fascinated by her gentle aura and loving care for her fellow villagers. He remained unseen, his enormous shadow hidden behind the misty cloak of his mountain, Heartspire.
One fateful day, a severe plague struck Lismore. The villagers fell ill, their healthy countenance replaced with ashen faces. Even the hearty laughter and vitality faded into an eerie silence. Evangeline worked tirelessly, days and nights blending into one another, but the ominous shadow of impending death loomed larger each day.
Watching this from his peak, Ivrizyll felt a pull. He had seen the warmth related to Evangeline's healing, and seeing her exhausted and desperate, strummed chords of empathy within him. The lonely Ivrizyll, who had long been feared and shunned, decided to offer his help.
With a mighty roar that echoed through the valley, Ivrizyll announced his arrival to the plague-ridden Lismore. The sight of him sent villagers into panic, their fears accentuated by old tales of savage dragons preying on mankind. In the middle of all this chaos, Evangeline remained calm. She recognized the creature that had often watched her from the shadows.
Evangeline pleaded to the villagers to not hurt Ivrizyll who had entered the village without causing any standing harm. Her words, coupled with the villagers' trust, led them to retreat, though their fear was undeniable. Evangeline then approached the dragon, her petite figure dwarfed by his colossal structure. With a surprising softness to his voice, Ivrizyll told her about the powerful healing magic that resided deep inside him, which perhaps could save her villagers.
In the days that followed, under the careful instructions of Ivrizyll and tireless efforts of Evangeline, the villagers soon began to recover. Using the dragon's magic, which was stirred and moulded under the healer's touch, the dread of the plague faded away. The shadow of death was lifted, and once again, vitality and joy filled Lismore.
As the village healed, so did the reputation of Ivrizyll. The villagers started to see him for what he truly was - not a terrifying beast but a gentle, caring creature. He was no longer a figure of fear but respect, and in time, love.
The dragon who yearned for companionship found it amongst the villagers. And Evangeline, her quiet demeanor found a confidante in the dragon. There were no more shadows for the dragon to hide in, and no more plagues for the healer to fear. The story of Lismore became a tale of unity, of dispelling fears, and embracing the unknown.
The dragon's salvation lay in his social acceptance, and the village's survival was made possible by the unexpectedly symbiotic friendship with the dragon. Ivrizyll and Evangeline's tale, a cute juxtaposition of two solitary souls who found companionship and strength in each other, became a legendary narrative across the kingdom, marking their tale as a shining beacon of hope, love and courage; henceforth known as 'A Dragon's Salvation'
